The someone probably have not gone through major raid, like DDN. You'll realised only tanker can do the real tanking job.

If you want to play Destroyer as a Tanker. Better play Guardian.

Other than that, you can choose by yourself.

Every job has his specialization and Guardian/Crusader created to serve people with their awesome tanking skills. Warrior does have parry and Barbarian has Taunting but that just isn't the right skill to provoke the mobs. Tanker failed to take control on mobs = game over, especially bosses in the raid like Desert Dragon Nest.

it's best if you try it yourself. most new players i see depended too much on other people's opinions, they tend to quit because the class they picked is not to their liking.

when you get to lv45, during your job specialization quest in the trial room, you can try both classes in there as much as you want.
pick the skills you like the most, and choose that job. if you are playing with good friends, they don't care which class you pick.

i think he means des is more tankish compare to barb but still he can't be main tank in nest/raid...
so destroyer will have higher survivability compare to barb but that's just skill based...
you have to take consideration on equipments too (like vitality suffix)...
