Think your line is bad?
Check out mine... LOL. Attenuation: 63 SNR: at best, 6 or 7. at worst,. 0 Very unstable connection but sometimes quite ok. The line is to blame actually. I'm at the very limits of the ADSL distance. last 1-2 months last year, totally cannot connect except on some good days, for a while. Early this year, the telekom tech came and rewired our house to the pole, improved enough to be able to connect with results as above. TM is both not at fault and at fault for this. Not as fault because it is stretching the distance limits of ADSL. At fault because they are simply money minded and just want to make that monthly pay out of you even if you're going to get bad service. The telekom tech himself said that by right, my house should be out of the ADSL coverage area, but the people still want to make money. We applied streamyx some years back but they said no coverage, and last year we tried again, we got the service. But actually they made no changes to the coverage area, they just stretched the limits to my house. |

QUOTE(MetalZone @ Jun 8 2007, 12:45 PM) Think your line is bad? Same like me. My case also the same la. Dslam is so too far away from my house. It's like all ppl are picking their line and i am in the last queue.. Tingal saki baki of the internet line only. Check out mine... LOL. But recently after chaning cable and putting a direct line into my room, my snr margin is rather good but attenutition still high at 60db |

Here is the screen shot of my connection. I am geting frequent disruption on connection... ON and OFF non stop especially during rainy days.
How was my US and DS Margin doing? Is it supposed to be that value or higher? I read in other forums stating that it will be good to be over 31 or so. Anything below will get connection disruption. Is it true? Attached thumbnail(s) |

@dagg3r:
Your SNR Margins are in good values. Means, SNR values around 20-30 is excellent. And your Line Attenuation is good too. So, I'm guessing it's your modem's problem. This is because your phone cable seems to be in perfect condition. Well, I cannot be too sure on this because I'd never come through this kind of problem. |

QUOTE(leelc99 @ Jun 10 2007, 09:44 PM) @dagg3r: sigh... i am facing disruption as i type this reply... Suddenly my ADSL lite just went off and blinking then back online. During this stage i pick up my phone, I can hear some data noise. I have also change to a new splitter too. Now my guess was my old phone line and also the phone line box outside the house that gets rusty. Your SNR Margins are in good values. Means, SNR values around 20-30 is excellent. It will be ur cable line problem but looking at ur SNR margin and Line Attenuation, ur phone cable seems to be in excellent connection. Hmm, try asking tmnut to reset port for u.. |

QUOTE(sad_ticket @ Jun 11 2007, 02:51 AM) i guess there is a problem in my connection your line looks like got a lot of noise disturbance. Do you use splitter? try to get a splitter (around RM15) and plug it in between your wall jack and your modem and see whether it helps or not. Do you have another phone sharing the same line just in case? If so, need a filter for that phone too because it will mess up the signal. if connected at morning i'm getting Local line Attenuation =56db Local SNR Margin = 12db but at night it suddenly changed values if reconnect the Local line Attenuation =58db Local SNR Margin = 4db and the connection will become sluggish and sometimes i can connect but cannot surf the internet, if can surfing it will be very very slow |

Actually, does the quality of a microfilter counts? - Like does it affect the performance of the DSL?

How to improve my DS SNR and DS Attenuation? I took this screenshot this early morning.
I am wondering if I should call Telekom (100) to ask them check and replace the wiring? The wiring is about 12 years old. ![]() |

And page loading is fast (google 1s,yahoo 4-5s, with or without proxy). Oh 1 more thing, not using VPN (any service). This post has been edited by ahpek26: Jun 12 2007, 09:50 PM |

QUOTE SN Margin (AKA Signal to Noise Margin or Signal to Noise Ratio) Relative strength of the DSL signal to Noise ratio. 6dB is the lowest dB manufactures specify for modem to be able to synch. In some instances interleaving* can help raise the noise margin to an acceptable level. The higher the number the better for this measurement. > 6dB or below is bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems > 7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions > 11dB-20dB is good with no synch problems > 20dB-28dB is excellent > 29dB or above is outstanding your upload speed is ok or not?? |

QUOTE(scorps @ Jun 13 2007, 01:35 AM) Veli good hahaha.Max 25kpbs LoL! (Yes, i'm teh uber l33c3r hahaha) --6dB or below is bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems-- I already read that thread. However I don't get what it means LoL. What does "intermittent synch" means? Edit: Pronunciation[in-ter-mit-nt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation -adjective 1. stopping or ceasing for a time; alternately ceasing and beginning again: an intermittent pain. 2. alternately functioning and not functioning or alternately functioning properly and improperly. 3. (of streams, lakes, or springs) recurrent; showing water only part of the time. Ok.. but what does intermittent synch means in simple terms and broadband relation (anyone anyone??).
