QUOTE(leelc99 @ Mar 31 2007, 10:40 PM) Oh my God, just got to know actually there's so many people having this "frequent disconnect" problem like I do. AHahaha! Felt kinda funny reading the posts you guys made. yes so many error,Well, as you guys can see, my SNR margin is kinda low. It's average is always around 15. And my Line Attenuation is always high high up the sky. And yes, I get this "frequeeeeeent disconnect" thing. Well, I called up the 1-300-88-9515 streamyx customer service blah blah blah and it always ended up saying " call the telekom olang, it must be your phone line problem" . Then, yeah I followed what they asked, I called up the telekom people, get them checked my phone line. And the telekom fella said "it's something wrong with your port". WTF PORT?! I don't even know that. Well then, he said he will correct the phone port for me and I will not disconnect again. He said that it'll be done in 2-3hrs time. I waited. Then when I tried to online back, it disconnected after few minutes again. -.- THIS IS KINDA PISSING ME OFF! What should I do next? ![]() LOL. Btw, try looking at my errors. the cable of TM really sucks... really bad, anyway, where is your location?? try ask another people in our area, that they also get the same problem with you or not?? |

QUOTE(leelc99 @ Apr 1 2007, 07:58 AM) Umm, I'm staying in Klang, Selangor. I've a friend staying at my area also using the same streamyx package as I do (RM77) but he doesn't dc at all.. not too good for me,And, there's hell lots of errors! Should I call for streamyx's customer service again and insist of requesting a technician to my house and see what's wrong with my line? Cause I'm intending to do that. However, this is my line's "6am" 's statue: ![]() Pretty good, huh? My line is pretty good in the morning, but in the afternoon and at night, I kept on getting disconnected. So, I want to report, .. I'm confused (Goblin Techies) @.@ you need to ask them ,and show your snr margin, and they will do what job suppose to do. |

QUOTE(leelc99 @ Apr 1 2007, 09:33 AM) I scare they don't understand what is SNR margin. u just ask the technie come and show that,Well, if they don't understand, I'll just shout at them and ask them to send over a technician. What else can I do? Streamyx's staffs are just plain stupig.. You meant, show the technician, or the tell the streamyx's customer service fella? they should know what is snr magin coz they pay by their boss to do the works.. the cable from cabinet to your house is worst, that what i think about, if you have any modem, u can test the snr margin with another modem, what the result?? |

QUOTE(leelc99 @ Apr 1 2007, 11:37 AM) LOL, I tested with so many different brands of modems, Aztech, D-Link, ZTD. They all showed out the same results. the main reason u get that so much error is come from bad cableOhyah btw, I subscribed the streamyx for at least 5 yrs already. Does that affect the reliability of the cable too? I meant, the cable/ phone line is old already.. Ok, I'll try to request for technicians. And, this are the readings after it past 10.00am. ![]() |

QUOTE(leelc99 @ Apr 1 2007, 11:47 AM) So, after I called for technicians and get them here and explain everything to them. Roughly what kind of actions will they take? Change my old cable into a new one? first they will make sure what is the main problem, let say the problem is from cabinet TM to DP box, this case they can't change to another cable if the cable full of users,Btw, will the technician charge for anything? Anything? if from Dpbox to your home, this call as drop cable, and maybe this can change if the problem come from that, technie from TM will not charge u, this is thier job,and TM already paid for them but if u want to give a cup of coffee ,it's up to you.. |

Frequent DC is killing me. yes heavy rain make trouble if the condition of cable is very poor, bad,No DotA in Bs3 is a sad thing. And there was a heavy rain yesterday, and today, I kept on getting DC-ed and this is pissing me off. Take a look at my SNR Margin: ![]() that's the tm problem, they need to check the cable, and from DP box, and somethings else... pity you.. |

QUOTE(pixma @ Apr 7 2007, 01:11 AM) CODE SN Margin (AKA Signal to Noise Margin or Signal to Noise Ratio) Relative strength of the DSL signal to Noise ratio. 6dB is the lowest dB manufactures specify for modem to be able to synch. In some instances interleaving* can help raise the noise margin to an acceptable level. The higher the number the better for this measurement. > 6dB or below is bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems > 7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions > 11dB-20dB is good with no synch problems > 20dB-28dB is excellent > 29dB or above is outstanding Line Attenuation Measure of how much the signal has degraded between the DSLAM and the modem. Maximum signal loss recommendation is usually about 60dB. The lower the dB the better for this measurement. > 20dB and below is outstanding > 20dB-30dB is excellent > 30dB-40dB is very good > 40dB-50dB is good > 50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues > 60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues do you face any dc problem?? |

QUOTE(leelc99 @ Apr 9 2007, 12:30 AM) Omg the technicians did some port changing for my streamyx account and asked me if I still disconnect ini between these few days, then only I report again.. yes nothing,-.- My SNR Margin has anything to do with the port changing thingy? becoz port changing just in the dslam,or at the cabinet, but snr margin refer to quality of cable. |

QUOTE(Friz @ Apr 9 2007, 02:26 PM) I have problem with my downstream SNR margin, it keeps dropping, but no disconnection, but I can't use my line at all when it drops until 0. So I have to reset my modem, and when it sync I get initial downstream SNR for 12 and my download is blazing fast at full speed. But the SNR will keep dropping until 0. My upstream SNR margin doesnt affected though. So my assumption is, this is nothing to do with my phone line. for this problem, try to use another different modem at your line of streamyx,So the question is, how am I gonna get a port change? Few of users did ask TM before but they refuse as the technician sent to investigate the problem cant find any problem. Well of course! They wouldnt mind the SNR margin as long as your modem is not blinking and your speedtest seems ok. Note: When my downstream SNR margin drops to zero, its still synchronized without disconnection, but I can't surf/download/etc anymore until I reset my modem. This happens from morning until late night then only I can get stable SNR margin. becoz sometimes there is also caused by modem problem if u tried with another modem, but still get the same things, that probably TM side problem.. |

QUOTE(Daniel89 @ Apr 9 2007, 06:21 PM) what model??usually just like this.. QUOTE Open a web browser like internet explorer or Firefox. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1. You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is admin, and the password is admin. Click the Log In button to log in to your router this is example of aztech modem status page.. ![]() ![]() @Friz i think you should make report about your problem, something wrong somewhere about wiring or cabling of TM when the technie TM come you can show your modem status and ask more details.. QUOTE After midnight especially 2am-7am the margin is damn stable. So how come? And my Upstream SNR margin is not affected somehow (20+). this about the condition of cable i think , maybe when hot days it will make trouble, |

QUOTE(leelc99 @ Apr 12 2007, 12:56 PM) Ahaha, I no need to pick up my house phone and leave it for 10 mins or even an hour. It will automatically disconnect once every 15-20 mins. tmnet not related to cable or other equipment of TM,And by the way, you mentioned that Telekom will not change the phone cable for us, yeah? But will TmNet's technicians do it for us? sometimes u can try ask them, maybe he will give a try to change from dp box to your home, if from cabinet to your side, that maybe impossible, |

SNR margin the higher the better [that means your signal getting strong , and your connection is stable and it would not 'hop']
Line attenuantion the lower the better[that means you would have less noise, thus you would face less disconnections] |
