Login to http://192.168.1.1. Click the word 'Status', followed by 'Modem Status'. US Margin and DS Margin are your upstream SN Margin and downstream SN Margin respectively. Hope this helps. smile.gif

If that's the SNR value, anything above 11db is good

Edited* Typo

Err... I think you have typed something wrongly. It is supposed to be "anything above 11dB is good". Not below.

unstoppable , you have alot of attenuation on your line...is it connected to a phone, and if so, is it noisy ?

Oh splitter, generally it does not affect. But this is my experience. I bought a RM 10 "made in China" splitter. I used it and straight away the SNR drop until become unstable. Then I opened up that splitter and analysed the circuit. Then I found that they have connected the modem to phone and vice versa. So, the modem port becomed filtered. Then I swithed the cables and tata... Not a single dB is affected.

Lesson: Don't trust the label and try switching around.

My connection...

Link Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 384
Ds Rate (Kbps) 352
US Margin 10
DS Margin 6
Modulation MMODE
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 63
US Line Attenuation 63
Path Mode Fast Path

As you can see.. my connection is very bad.. the download speed can go up and down from 1024 to 352.. So, I can't really ask the technician to come to my house by saying that my line is slow coz most of the time it can go up to 512,702,900 (I'm on 512 package).. however, my concern here is about the Margin and Line Attenuation.. is it possible to ask them to increase these values to a better rate ? BTW, I'm 5.48 KM from the DSLAM. Do I have to lodge a report ? Can't I just go directly to Clickers or TMNut's office ?

In my opinion, the problem here is with your phone line.

This morning connection...

Link Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 384
Ds Rate (Kbps) 800
US Margin 16
DS Margin 7
Modulation MMODE
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 63
US Line Attenuation 63
Path Mode Fast Path

You see.. the speed can change but not the margin, I get a fewer disconnections during the day, but in the night, duh.. lots of time. If the problem is my phone line.. can it be repaired ?
