Hi, just wanted to ask if anyone can recommend a ghetto-type gym around PJ area. Lots of free weights, little or no machines.

Do share! Thanks smile.gif

After some googling around, found Our Gym in ss2 and Alex's Gym, also in ss2.

Alex's Gym

Anyone works out there? Can give any feedback about the environment, fees, parking etc? Much appreciated!

I box and do my weights there. I haven't been to other gyms in KL so I'm not sure how to do a comparison.

But in a nutshell :-
  • I usually arrive about 7.30pm. Parking takes some effort except on Mondays which is pasar malam night. On Monday, I just go straight to the parking lot in the centre of the SS2 square
  • Fees, I think its RM440 for 3 months. It gets cheaper if you sign up for longer. Err.. no registration or sign up fees or anything like that if you are curious
  • I think the gym is fine. There is a cardio area with 5 treadmills, a couple of exercise bikes, stair machine and uh.. i think its called cross trainer machines.
Then there is the weight room with squat rack, leg press, benches and other stuff. Equipment is not too old but not exactly new either. Its in decent condition.
And finally, the boxer's room where I spend most of my time. Heavy bags, speed ball and ring are there
  • There are almost always 2 fitness trainers around who are willing to help you if you ask. Boxing is taught by Alex and there is a yoga instructor who comes in on Wednesdays (they take up the boxing room vmad.gif )

Thats about it i guess.

Thx bro for your feedback! Will go check it out soon. Glad to know there's squat rack and free weights. So one can do squats, benches and deadlifts there as well right?

Yes, squat rack is there for squatting. No curling allowed in the squat rack tongue.gif

Benches are available and there is a little space for deadlifts.
