You think every family's dd also earn 100k a year aa? Somemore for one son/daughter only. You haven't include the installment payment for vehicle plus this and that. One year exceed 40k for sure.

nah i notice most parents have ipads/iphone for their work, their children always borrow their gadgets to play. you all see them holding it and automatically think its theirs. this is the case for my relatives, they earn 5 digits too.

ipads for work? u kidding me......
it cant do shit beyond angry birds.

people need to stop convincing them self, "i absolutely need an iphone to sync wit my company mail! it's so essential yo!"

True. I got one uncle who sent 2 of his son oversea because of their good result of which one is earning more than RM15k per month. Another uncle of mine was so loaded that he also sent his son oversea despite having so so result.

Sometimes, parents do need to question themselves as well. Like my dad's friend who sent his son oversea and graduate with Master in Business or Accounting, but wanted him to come back for him being the eldest. When go interview, the company boss said I want to hire you but can't afford your salary. Later go work for his dad in something totally not related... Wasted few hundred K. That was almost 10 years ago.

Those days, credit for consumers are rare or even unheard of, in Malaysia.

Nowadays, many Malaysians has credit card.

using credit cards does not mean people do not have the purchasing power.

Honestly I don't think my old man thought it over a lot.

But good thing I figured it out and didn't come back so soon.

Probably will go back, but I figure that I'll aim for more experience.

I started working as a young graduate electrical engineer in 1983 in an engineering firm in Kuala Lumpur. My starting salary was RM1200 which was pretty typical in those days.

Present day graduates start their working life at RM1800 to RM2000 a month, not a lot of difference from 25 years ago but prices of everything have tripled and quadrupled.

not bad

but he forgets that back then how many people were graduates back then?

nowadays with so many colleges around, anyone can have a degree . the numbers of graduates has been tenfold or more? based on percentage of population of course

in the end what matters is yourself , degree nowadays is nothing more than just a "minimum requirement for a employment" equivalent to what SPM were back then

best example , in 1969 with SPM you get to become officer straight away (inspector)

in time..you need diploma to be Inspector , degree will make u become ASP

nowadays you need SPM (credit BM) just to become a private , and degree will only make you inspector

-

its not about how good you are, it is about how much better you are than other people
