original leaked ending and final choice - same earth sequence but there are several original cutscenes that are edited out from the campaign/story because it does not make sense with the new ending. Related to dark energy a.k.a spiral energy a.k.a gurren laggen.

You will find out the reapers are combating dark energy which will destroy the galaxy. They are not harvesting advanced civilizations to wipe them out, they are "recruiting" them to join them in the fight against dark energy which can destroy stars, as seen in mass effect 2. Which is why in me1, sovereign say that we are your salvation through destruction. Their belief is that only by having more reapers can they combat dark energy more efficiently.

In the final decision you make, same choice but different consequences (No Indoctrination BS)

Command - The reapers respect you. You will lead the reapers on the fight against dark energy. The reapers fall back from Earth and retreat. You will never be seen again (canon ending for mass effect 4 continuation)

Synthesize - You agree with Harbinger. You allow the reapers to harvest/recruit you and everyone advanced in this cycle to become reapers to combat dark energy.

Destroy - You disagree with Harbinger. You destroy the reapers with the catalyst. You will have to find out how to combat dark energy on your own with other advanced races. (also canon ending for mass effect 4 continuation/gurren laggen ending)

I think you can guess which one is paragon and which one is renegade, right smile.gif
I heard due to the developers rushing to finish the new ending, they have no time to write the epilogue. Which probably will come in the next DLC.
*
The original ending is much better as shepard is given a choice. The reworked ending is just too terrible with no choice whatsoever.

Which brings the question - how can you release an unfinished game?

They might be forgiven if they release a DLC FOC.

Bioware has lots of option. If they have sufficient content for continuation of Shepard's story in DLC, they might even contemplate a Mass Effect 4...

Do you guys think that there will be enough content for DLC to be actually made into ME4.

QUOTE(Sethmaster @ Mar 21 2012, 12:57 PM)
they already say that plans are being made for another mass effect game in January/February.
but the next one will not be about commander shepard, its a new main character.

suppose to tie in with the fight against dark energy originally, but with the storyline changes this may no longer be possible
*
why would they want to change the ending and derail the entire plan?

The new ending was done badly and it may backfire by fans not picking up future ME series, I am one of them.

Doesn't matter to me. With current ending, I'm not buying any ME4. They can pull the same bullshit ending again.

The leaked ending makes a lot more sense. And they should have kept it. Who the f*** leaked the original ending should be shot. I've seen companies change their ending / product simply because some smart aleck decides to leak the product / ending ahead.
*
Yes, maybe they should just get the original ending back as DLC.

Seriously this ME3 ending debacle really destroys the playability of the franchise, and I won't buy any future games from Bioware.

QUOTE(Sethmaster @ Mar 21 2012, 01:03 PM)
its very simple actually

Around october/november, somebody leaked the original ending. Bioware is pissed as the ending got major plot twist which they are proud of.
Around December, they start working on the new ending.
However deadline is around January/February for validation and production.
With just one month, you cannot expect them to create a new ending for a trilogy and have time for the epilogue. that's why the no matter what choices you made, its the same ending lol.

Besides, its EA bosses whom decides when its the deadline,  Bioware have to follow it or their team leads get their asses fired.
*
So there are still hope that Bioware might be actually working on some new twist to the ending and to release it as DLC? They are extremely quiet and ambiguous about this. Maybe they are really guarding their plan and not to repeat the leak.

I am too old and slow for multiplayer. Always got kicked out. I slow them down all the time and they have to keep reviving me.

I agree with you on this. If they catch that guy who leaked the original ending, they should really break every bone in his body and then shoot him.
*
It's not easy to hide development of creative products in a very well-connected world today. With so many people involved and high turnover rate of employees, company secret may not stay that long.

But I really like the original ending better. It leaves room for future Mass Effect series with new protagonist.

The current ending, IMHO does not leave much room for future series. Reapers gone, mass relays gone, etc.

It's official. New content for me3 will be announced in April. It will address players' criticism and help bring closure to the storyline.

Question is: will it be free?

I think the rumour was most likely true. They plan this all along, but need to make a statement due to destructive behaviour of the fans. (asking for refunds, complaint to trade bureau, personal attacks on developer).

have you tried playing online with the same exact psn profile you used to redeem the online pass?
so far i've yet to use my region 3 profile-always on my region 1 profile..wonder if that's the cause?
*
Just to update you. I seek help from EA online customer service. After some verification, the mass effect 3 digital soundtrack is available in my account to be downloaded. tongue.gif

Quite good customer service.

They asked for my PS3 ID and also the email account that I use to create EA origin ID/ Bioware ID.

I don't think that is a forgone conclusion.

They are trying to remedy a situation due to the uproar from fans. Charging for this content will only be counterproductive and undermine any goodwill they are trying to build by agreeing to come up with the content in the first place...
*
I don't think they will change much of the ending but to address the issue of the fate of shepard's friends. It's something like a closure that fans seek. But frankly, I prefer the original ending (before the leak).

Good news actually. Now I will have to play ME2 all over again to get the right choices and import them into ME3.

Charge also nevermind la. So epic Mass Effect 3. A lot of arts and effort put into the game. It is actually one of the best scifi game ever to date.

For single player campaign, which is a better squadmate Ashley or James?

Is marksman good for Ashley? She does not seem to use that power automatically.

Yup. It's part of the plan all along? I think in the end they responded mainly to address the destructive comments? Like going to federal law.. wtf... US players can do that?
*
Yea, I think they plan this all along. But the destructive actions by their fans are getting out hand , so they need to make an official announcement sooner than later. The negative vibes from the fans may actually put off potential buyers.

I think there might be still some surprises from Bioware. Let's wait and see.

I wish there will be a Mass Effect 4 with Shepard though.

That makes even a lot more sense now. It's like a single author who wrote a story that only he understand!

Kudos. Basically, ME3 is f***ed either way.
*
Maybe they are all hard pressed to finish the game before the deadline. Having too many people talking and too many peer review may not be the most efficient way to finish a game.

Let's hope Bioware rectify the ending, at least to make it more sensible one.

More inclined to believe that. They really should have discussed it further. Delay for a month just to get an ending right is far more justifiable than having the controversy flame war thing.

Seriously. This is something the industry should learn.
*
The ending does seem a bit rushed to me. It looks like it was done in just few weeks instead of months.

I thought Bioware was already making a "feel good" ending to be released in April as DLC, because some people complained to the US federal government about it.  laugh.gif
*
It's US citizen's right to complain, but it will most likely be ignored by the Commission.

DLC will only be announced in April, and when the DLC will be released remains unknown. And also the question of $$$$.
