Is the rate of 2.39% for new car Santa FE(2011 MODEL) good? Got it from HLB but base on new regulation can only loan up to 7 years. Is it true that max loan tenure has been reduced to 7 years?

QUOTE(Dope-88 @ Mar 10 2020, 11:17 AM) Managed to get 2.31% from MBB for RM150k 9 years for 2019 car. 2.31% is low, the 2019 car is brand new but manufactured in 2019? Can I still get a car loan if I no longer has taxable income, but with non-taxable investment income? This post has been edited by MGM: Mar 19 2020, 11:20 AM

QUOTE(TyroneS @ May 14 2020, 03:46 PM) my loan just approved~ loan 40k interest 3.52% QUOTE(MGM @ May 14 2020, 03:51 PM) Wow so high at a time with low interest rate. Which bank/finance co? When it comes to car loans, the stated interest rate is not the same as the real interest rate (called the Effective Interest Rate, or EIR). This is because car loans always use what’s called a flat interest rate. So at 3.52% EIR is > 6%. https://loanstreet.com.my/calculator/flat-t...rest-calculatorIf can afford I would rather pay cash. My last car loan was 6+ years ago at 2.3%(EIR 4.33%), took it cos I can get returns of ~6% from investment.

QUOTE(RadenMasIV @ Jul 4 2020, 10:26 AM) I am been offered around 2.2% by Affin, 6 years. Anyway my loan above 100 k and for non national car maybe that also explain low interest rate I am getting. QUOTE(xcxa23 @ Jul 4 2020, 11:37 AM) ya.. i have been told local car rate is much lower. thanks for sharing! QUOTE(xcxa23 @ Jul 4 2020, 01:46 PM) Local car means proton and perodua So local car=national car. RadenMasIV is saying non-national offer low interest n u said "Ya, national car rate is much lower", so lower that 2.2%, care to share which finance co offer that? QUOTE(Buydirect @ Aug 18 2020, 02:08 PM) In my opinion, it is best to take fixed rate at this moment, because interest is at an all time low. It doesn't make good money sense to take variable rate because when economy recovers in the long run, the interest rate would only go up. On the contrary, if the interest rate is very high, then taking variable rate is worth doing, to capitalize on lower interest when OPR/BLR goes down. Most banks, either conventional or Islamic loan are in FIXED rate for auto loans. Only limited banks like Maybank do offer variable rate. I tot car loan/HP r all fixed rate, so very few r variable. Was told that car loan fixed rate wasn't affected by the reducing BLR/opr, unlike housing loan, why?

QUOTE(Buydirect @ Aug 19 2020, 01:37 PM) Cars are depreciating assets, so fixed rate would hedge it better against depreciation and inflation, especially those taking 9 years tenure. There are many cases of payment defaults, where banks need to repossess the cars and auctioned them, many times at a loss, even after factoring in the interest. Fixed rate would take away many uncertainties so that auto loans can continue to be profitable for banks. The other thing is of course is, if you take a 9 year loan, but settle the loan within 2 years, you are not going to get a clean waiver of interest of 7 years under FIXED rate, unlike that of housing loan. As such, when you do early settlement of the auto loan, the fund goes back to the bank system with "added" profit and that is what drives the economy. That's just my take. Thanks for D explanation, now I understand why car loan rate doesn't change in respect of opr.

QUOTE(Buydirect @ May 26 2021, 03:09 PM) Try to get a guarantor who can combine the income with you. If you are still single, your parent. If married, then spouse. Either one must have income. For someone who is retired with investment income, how to get loan?

QUOTE(Buydirect @ May 28 2021, 03:18 PM) Provide your investment certificate / savings / shares / FD / mutual funds etc info to the bank. Your income tax return declaration is also an evidence of your income from investment. The bank can consider. In worst case scenario, they may ask for a guarantor with stable and predictable income. The most important thing is that the salary of 1500 is credited into your bank account on monthly basis and your bank statement can prove the same. Secondly, bank would prefer that your company pay EPF and socso, which is another evidence. As for payslips, it is not that big of a problem if you have the above information at hand. Perhaps you can seek your SA for further advice. My honest opinion however is that your salary may not meet the requirement of the bank. Guarantor must be a relative? And can be Malaysian working in Singapore?

QUOTE(Buydirect @ May 29 2021, 02:00 PM) Only parent or spouse can stand as guarantor, in order to combine income to qualify for loan. However, if the reason is because of lack of track loan record but income is OK, sometimes bank may consider sibling as guarantor. Thanks
