Maybank: 2.10%
Affin: 2.23%
Ambank: 2.29%

All 3 are fixed rates and had to do some cross negotiating between Maybank and Affin as I’m an existing customer with both. Went with MB

200k (new car - EV)

Yeah 5 years. Oh really? Figured they were in the ballpark so didn’t really feel like doing the legwork to get the absolute best deal. Just half a day to enquire and send details and was sorted the next day.

Curious, what’s the general rate range atm?

This thread gives you an indication. In Nov/Dec 2023 maybank gave me 5 years 2% and BMMB 2.25% for 9 years. Interest rate did not increase since then so yes, yours is high for 5 years.

Ahh, that’s a while back then. Too many variables from personal profile to market conditions can change quarter to quarter. We’ll see if there are other data points to compare against

Guys, is it common for a bank staff asking you to prepare some cash for 'stamping' when coming to meet you at your office/place for signing a hire purchase agreement? I can't recall any banker did that to me during all of my previous hire purchase signing. Never need to make any cash payment, all was done through electronic means, never in cash. Please advise.

How many cash he ask for? Did you find the staff through bank website or just somewhere else?
Anyway I think no cash payment needed but if ask for rm10 stamping fee then ok lo

If what you say is true, they will usually ask you to bank in to the hire purchase account belonging to the bank.
If not, red flag there.

The kakak ask for RM10 'stamping fee' but i don't think it's actually the case as the 'stamping fee' was never paid in cash since as far back as i can remember. I'm actually smelling some fish here.

Btw, the dealership got her for me when I told them that i prefer to go with a particular bank. The dealership told me that she is from that bank and she will be in touch with me very soon. When she contacted me, she did introduced herself as a staff of that bank.

That's what I thought. Asking for cash, no matter how small is a huge red flag for me. She seems to have done this before with others as the way she ask for the money to be prepared was very blase. But of course, she thought that all people wouldn't be too concerned about paying merely RM 10 in cash. I'll see how the signing process goes. Might write her up if she still pushing it.

Would like to ask if this is common practice with banks. I just finished paying off my HP loan with PBB recently, so went to bank to claim back my VOC. Surprised to find out that there is outstanding amount to settle, RM100++. Staff said it was admin fee, what kind of admin fee is this? Ask for breakdown but they couldn’t provide.

Hmm your rate is fixed or variable? Notice that mine is variable rate so when BR reduce/increase the rate follow as well
