Is it true that bank will default spouse as first guarantor if you are married?
*
Technically yes, if the bank require a guarantor and if the guarantor has income. If guarantor has no income, then, bank may consider parents or sibling. It also depends whether joint-income is required to clear the scoring, in which sibling cannot be joint-income.

Sibling as guarantor is only special cases eg hirer first time taking car loan , or marginal ccris record (not very strong repayment record of existing loans, credit card etc) - only to serve as confidence booster for the bank to grant to the loan.

How are the loans here so low? I've recently asked around for Inspira 2010-2012 , the highest I've seen was 6% interest rate over 7 years. I'm a first car buyer so i'm surveying around , didn't know the final price over the listed price on Mudah/Carlist can vary that much too.

Any car shifu will to shed some light to a newbie?

1 . Loans from bank can choose by yourself or by dealer only? If yes , how so? Ask around , got website to check?
Usually, used car dealers prefer to go with their panel banks & branches. Banks do not simply take any used car loan application unless that used car dealer is under their panel. Banks need to do some due diligence on the background of the dealer before they can do business with them for obvious reason. In the past, banks have even blacklisted some used car dealers for frauds. So the rules for used car dealers are more stringent compared to new cars, because for new cars , banks can always refer to the principal / franchise holder.

2. How much is "too much" or "cheap" when buying a 2nd hand car? Like 26800 , final OTR became 31000 with a rate of 4.3% over 7 years. That's too over or normal? I'm guessing normal , asked a lot of dealers their mark up seems to be ranging to thousands of ringgits.
Of course, for this, you need to do your survey. The final price and the car condition are 2 considerations. As a consumer, you need to find the best of the 2 factors. There is nothing wrong or right in the final analysis, just the best deal.

3. The only way to get good deals are just direct owner?
*

In my opinion, buying from direct owner is not necessary the best deal. For a start, most owners do not add value to the car eg no repair or refurbishment done. Also, they wanna sell you at higher price, which may be very close to the price that used car dealers would sell to you. Otherwise, they could have just sold to used car dealers, if not for the higher price. Secondly, getting a loan directly may be a bit of hassle as banks normally need documentation from the seller company eg invoice, delivery note , vehicle sales order. Some used car dealers actually provide a short warranty for the car they sell to you. Owners usually don't do that. Having said that, of course, they are exceptions when you are able to find a good car from direct user at a significantly lower price than what you can get in the market. Just my 2 cents.

A small update on this matter, you might correct about this. Before the car was registered under my name, I talked to the salesman and told him I am quite unhappy with the arrangement, he said maybe he can do something about it, then a day later he came back with a PBB contract @ 3.28% for 7 years (20k loan out of 39k), and told me he will cancel the CIMB loan on my behalf.

I just signed the PBB loan today and is now waiting to confirm my CIMB loan is cancelled. I think this rate is much more reasonable. (saved like ~1k out of nowhere)
*
It is quite common knowledge that CIMB rates are comparatively higher in the market. However, they are also more lenient and willing to take chances with borderline cases, eg high commitment and less perfect repayment record, as compared to other banks that tend to shy away. In a way, the bank simply needs to offset the NPL risk by increasing the interest rate. I believe that is their business model as they wanna take on a different market segment, higher risk but higher gain as well.

that is quite low.. i know banks who offers 2.1X% rate usually is variable rate

what is the criteria to get this low?
*
High financing margin eg 120-150K, and tenure between 5-7 years, not shorter or longer tenure. Non national brands of course

2.24% 9 yrs for Mazda, loan RM80k, HLB. Is it ok?
*
Yes, not bad. 9 years loan is always higher compared to 5-7 years. Loan amount also affects the rate, the higher -the lower the rate.

I highly appreciate the reply , what about 1.5k nett salary ?
*
Try to get a guarantor who can combine the income with you. If you are still single, your parent. If married, then spouse. Either one must have income.

For someone who is retired with investment income, how to get loan?
*
Provide your investment certificate / savings / shares / FD / mutual funds etc info to the bank. Your income tax return declaration is also an evidence of your income from investment. The bank can consider. In worst case scenario, they may ask for a guarantor with stable and predictable income.

Thank you so much for the reply but I still got on last question ,
me mom has a job and payslip , but i have a job but no payslip , is there any way to proof my income without a payslip ?

My job company seems new so they're unable to provide me my payslip , my salary is 1500 , my mom's salary is 1200 .
*

The most important thing is that the salary of 1500 is credited into your bank account on monthly basis and your bank statement can prove the same.
Secondly, bank would prefer that your company pay EPF and socso, which is another evidence.
As for payslips, it is not that big of a problem if you have the above information at hand. Perhaps you can seek your SA for further advice.
My honest opinion however is that your salary may not meet the requirement of the bank.

Guarantor must be a relative? And can be Malaysian working in Singapore?
*
Only parent or spouse can stand as guarantor, in order to combine income to qualify for loan. However, if the reason is because of lack of track loan record but income is OK, sometimes bank may consider sibling as guarantor.

Will it be difficult to get loan approval if work for foreign country company but staying at Msia?
*
Must have prove of income, that is your salary is credited into a Malaysian bank plus your letter of appointment/terms of contract etc. More difficult when compared to working with a Malaysian company but it is not impossible. Good luck.

What if salary is credited to foreign bank account?
*
Difficult to prove because local banks cannot verify the authenticity of the bank statement.

Try foreign banks like Citi, HSBC, Standard Charted, UOB etc... I have friends working oversea, most unable to get mortgage loan, some not even credit card from local banks but no problem with the foreign banks. Interest rate is higher though. Not sure if car loan iis the same.
*
Foreign banks don't do car loans, not in any big way, at least. Car loans need a lot of resources to manage , especially if it is non performing. Reposses, auctions etc...
