Did anyone try to contact NewEgg MY for this? hmm.gif

where's the need to do that?

If NewEgg opens a branch here, they will certainly release an official PR.

no official news and you guys accept it wholesale ah? that's very wise.

QUOTE(Boldnut @ Feb 15 2012, 03:40 PM)
I am positive that price will still be around the local price or maybe slightly higher. The only big diff is from now on, u can buy stuff that the local dumb distro didnt want to bring in due to "low demand" or those low-demand item @ "NO massive marked up price"

things like SFX standard branded PSU is still quite rare here.
that's a bold assumption.

until the site launches, no one can claim that it'll be cheaper, have more rare stuff and such.

Even back in the 90s, I've for countless times thought of buying from the USA. smile.gif Their price is sooooooooooo much cheaper but the killer is the shipping and warranty issues.

Anyway, one site that ships to MY is http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/

ok. at least we have some official correspondence and contents already.

QUOTE(yeam @ Feb 15 2012, 10:53 PM)
The logo is clickable.

For e.g. the event logo.

yeah i clicked before. What I didn't realize was it's scrollable! tongue.gif

Thanks!

Purely my own speculation, i think they receive quite a lot of benefit from government.

I doubt any people would even dream they would land in SEA nor even here.

Seem still in their initial stage.

Let wait and see, when will they open their online store.
yes. Let's wait and see. I won't be jumping for joy until I see their catalog, shipping charges and warranty policies.

competition? oh that one has been long going on within LYN members what. biggrin.gif same goes to Lelong and others..........

but guess what, we who buy online are often enthusiasts and are just a small portion of the entire market. smile.gif

So before we say Newegg is a COMPETITION, let's see their catalog, price, shipping conditions and warranty policies first.

If come out same / similar to what we already have, then what competition we talking about? smile.gif

QUOTE(Hornet @ Feb 16 2012, 02:14 PM)
Competition is about having options.

Of course there's many choices if you're buying an Intel CPU. But how many users here carry a wide range of Sennheiser headphones. In fact, in 2010 when I was building my current PC, I was looking for this huge double heatsink by Noctua and it was no where to be found. Also failed to get this supposedly one of the better thermal paste. A good fan controller is another rare product.

competition and options are 2 totally different things.

QUOTE(Hornet @ Feb 16 2012, 02:14 PM)
Of course there are also good traders, like hikari85 whom I always check with first when I need some hardware, as this trader is one of those few who carries a wide range of hardware and have very good communication with the customers, quick to reply in all the times I've deal with. But very few traders are this good.
More option is always good. It doesn't matter if newegg brings the same price, of course the prices are controlled by Intel, nVidia, etc anyway. I just want to see more options I can rely on. And if newegg can bring in those harder to find products, all the more power to them.
I also know quite a few people who don't like the idea of buying online from users, understandably as you are banking in money to a stranger expecting to get your items after the fact. But with a real online retailer, they would have no problem and I would gladly introduce them to online purchasing and spare them from the rude service we're getting here at the local retail store.
more option isn't always good, that's why I said below.

if the new option doesn't even come close to what's available now then the option is as good as none.

In case you guys didn't get it - my point so far is that many of you are praising Newegg too soon, the egg is new and not yet hatched. wink.gif

IMO you guys are better off being neutral and see what they actually offer before praising them, rather than having high hopes and later if disappointed, probably come here complain sky complain ground. whistling.gif

QUOTE(kembar4 @ Feb 17 2012, 05:03 PM)
It doesn't have to be a competition in prices only per say. Read my post above . Everyone that i know in the USA who are enthusiasts gets their stuff directly from newegg. Why? Because of the customer service which is next to none.

1. read my post - I said catalog, price, shipping conditions and warranty policies. not price alone, basically whole package.

2. Newegg USA may be good but that's not for anyone of us to assume Newegg Malaysia will be good.

QUOTE(kembar4 @ Feb 17 2012, 05:03 PM)
The ability to receive support is there. As of this moment, we have been dealing with individual business owners, small store traders. They may close their doors anytime they want and they could also choose to ignore you with your request for support / RMA.
erm......... i donno how small is your world but there are many that are NOT SMALL traders and even traders, many of them actually do provide good support.

you can even RMA directly with distributor.

IMO you're just painting the whole IT / Tech component industry until it looks so bad when it's not.

QUOTE(kembar4 @ Feb 17 2012, 05:03 PM)
I for one, welcomes newegg wholeheartedly to our land, Malaysia.

of course, you're probably one of those that are fed up with lack of options. smile.gif

guess what, I've been building rigs for more than 15 years. used to the lack of options, have explored Newegg and others since the 90s.

even so, I'd wait for the egg to hatch rather than putting so much hopes on it.

QUOTE(Hornet @ Feb 18 2012, 11:45 AM)
Hell if their presence make those bigger sellers here think twice about their choice of words, I'm all for it.  smile.gif As I've mentioned earlier, and another user posted above too, some sellers here are very rude especially in the dispute section. Maybe they wouldn't be that egoistic if there's a competitor to keep them in check.
erm, waffor you need Newegg to check them small sellers? those small fellas in the dispute section already have plenty of other "good service" competitors to keep them in check already. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(haris @ Feb 18 2012, 12:43 PM)
Two things:

1. Has this be verified as the real thing? The official new egg or 3rd party or agent? In addition, anyone can create a URL either for scam or prank. 29th February is coming, it is not as bad as 1st April, but 29th Feb is only once in 4 year kind of thing.

2. It is very possible to sell things cheap even to the tune of same pricing as in US (imagine that the shipping from TW or CH to Malaysia is cheaper than to US, for example). No Malaysia company is doing it, perhaps because it means lesser margin (lambat kaya!) or perhaps the logistic and warehousing requirement that surely only few big companies can do!

Cheers!
There's news on newegg.com.my page. Click on the eggs, the pop up is scrollable.

as for the price, the price of goods in Newegg China is quite high.

My thoughts is as this article http://www.lowyat.net/v2/index.php?option=...d=6253&Itemid=2

Going by Newegg China - the price isn't cheap and there are other places cheaper. So we'll just have to wait and see.

Until the site is launched and all details laid out, there's only hope. How high anyone want to hope is up to them. smile.gif
