It would be nice if the shipping fees is cheaper.
*
Their shipping fee for anything weighing around or more than 1 kg cost like RM 85, so heatsinks, gpu, motherboard , pc case, monitor, psu cost a brick

the delivery is quite slow, at least minimum 2 weeks and maximum 3 weeks + (near 1 month), if you can wait and if it costs rm 80+ cheaper , go for it otherwise pay extra for no waiting hassle from lowyat

16GB rams.

if the discounted item price can eat the cost of shipping and waiting and beats lowyat price, go for it.

otherwise, buy locally smile.gif

should newegg reduce their shipping cost for kg items , they will get more customers, unfortunately, they aren't able to, seems they aren't really official newegg but more like lowyat middleman who does U.S online transaction for us similar to Amazon. tongue.gif

If the Real newegg company establishes here with their warehouse and provide free shipping will definitely owned all lowyat shops including the online garage shops here. period. laugh.gif

Cheaper even after delivery by more than RM100.

hopefully the gain can also cover the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) cost if it DOA (Dead on Arrival) + waiting time to get to them and delivered back to you hmm.gif

My advise is only get newegg items that can truly wait at most 2-3 months (non urgent items since there is a risk it comes DOA or issues especially Hard Disk with bad sectors).

HDD is quite cheap compared to lowyat price, 2 TB RM290 Western Digital in US with New year Eve Special promotion. laugh.gif

I wonder when Newegg MY starts setting up their warehouse and their headquarters here so that they can help reduce the cost of transportation (RM35-80 for heavy stuff) and shipment delay (2-3 weeks). Otherwise, newegg malaysia is seens as a middleman instead of being official - just an alternative method to purchase items which are not available in MY. Currently they could not compete with the local shops here with their current method of dealing (long wait + high shipment cost)

Latest news from NeweggMalaysia!

They will now charging 10% for their service charge starting 12th August 2013. Also, shipment cost within Malaysia has been waived but not from USA to MY! Paypal users will not required to pay 1.5% service charge.

From what I see, that 10% charge is used to pay shipment cost and paypal/credit-card costs.

Also, take note that they will now include Malaysia custom tax (up to 20%) to goods as well!

Example Price Estimation
Corsair fan would cost $10 USD (Local is around RM38)

Conversion Cost : USD10 x 3.3 = RM33
Malayia Custom Tax : RM 33 x 20% = RM6.6
Service Charge Cost : RM33 x 10% = RM3
Shipment Cost from USA to MY : RM25
Total Cost : RM 67.60

Damn 10% increase!

Looks like Newegg only good for Black Friday sales then.
*
I'm not sure whether that would still apply for Newegg 2013 Black Friday.

THis graphic card cost $349.99 USD on Black Friday.
GIGABYTE GV-N670OC-2GD GeForce GTX 670 (original Price is $399.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814125423

That is $50 USD Saving.
But this saving is diminished with:
$25.75 USD (RM85) shipping from USA to MY
$35 USD (RM115.50) for 10% service charge
With this 2 alone, it already eats up the savings...
This is not included the Malaysia custom tax yet. (Probably min RM20 or might be non-dutiable).

From this lowyat posts:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/841985

It says computer parts are non-dutiable, but somehow newegg malaysia staff says there are some that are applied unless that article is outdated.

USD to MYR = USD1 : MYR3.29 (Newegg Malaysia sets it to MYR3.5)
Basically already includes their 10% service charge + bank charges. 3.5 - 3.29 = 0.21%

It would be better for them to set it to MYR3.3 to gain more buyers.

Newegg Malaysia Sales Tax (Duty Tax + Sales Tax)
PowerSupply / UPS (10%)
CPU Coolers / Fans (10%)
headphones / earphones (5% + 10%)
Tablets-Cellphones Case & Covers (20% + 10%)
Tablets-Cellphones Screen Protector (10%)
Cables (15%)
Jewelry (10%)

Shipping Handling Fee (West/East Malaysia)
Processor (RM25 / RM40) = USD7.6/ 12.16
RAM (25 / 40) = USD7.6/ 12.16
SSD HDD (25 /40) = USD7.6/ 12.16
Motheboard ATX (85/100) = USD25.84/ 30.4
Motherboard ITX (55/70) = USD16.72/ 21.28
Graphics Card (85/100) = USD25.84/ 30.4
Mouse/Mouse Pad (39/59) = USD11.85/ 17.93
keyboard (60/80) = USD18.24/ 24.32
Laptops (Contact Newegg MY)
Monitor (Contact Newegg MY)

Neweggers we have heard your opinions and we have reviewed your concerns and now, we have come to terms in addressing them. Brand evangelists and friends, as you have noted we have made some changes to the tabs on our Facebook page and we encourage you to review it.

Below are some of the highlights we have changed:

1) There would no longer be a 10% service charge on all products.

2) A new tab highlighting the brochure for Newegg Malaysia is in place. So, do give it a try.

3) The currency would be peg at RM 3.5 to a dollar at present.

4) A fix shipping fee would be standardized for all items listed in the shipping and handling tab.

5) Be advised, there is a new tab for items taxable by the Malaysian Custom for your references. So, we encourage you to check them out frequently. Taxable items ie. PSU or coolers.

6) At present, we have two payment method which is PayPal and bank transfer. Customers who wish to pay through PayPal would be charged 5% extra for PayPal services. As such, we encourage our customers to pay through bank transfer to avoid the extra charges.

7) We are updating our FAQ, a shipping list for weight calculation and examples of doing a product calculation. We are also updating on several company policies which would be updated in the FAQ ie. the 30 days policy.

* Effective immediately from September 12, 2013.

As a result, we encourage you to call us to find out more about the changes, if you are in doubt. We can be reached anytime between 9.30 am to 6.30 pm from Monday to Friday, if you have any more questions do contact us at 03-5611-2875.

Warm regards, from the Newegg Malaysia Team.

Any bad experience dealing with newegg?
How long did it took for your item to arrive?
*
The bad experience from Newegg Malaysia is that they deliver item slow and they do not operate on weekend (Sunday). And they provide the local shipment tracking 1 day late (which basically means once you receive it, then only you receive the shipment tracking code which is kinda pointless)

When there is delay in shipment, they do not inform the buyer unless the buyer queries them.

There is one incident where a Newegg Malaysia reports that one of shipment is lost during transaction, Newegg Malaysia requires buyer to pay extra for it instead of asking refund from the shipment company. Not sure how they handle that dispute after that. You can check this out in their https://www.facebook.com/NeweggMalaysia comment.

The good experience is the price point. You can save alot of $$$ if you know when to buy those US electronic products starting from RM50-300++. If the savings is below RM50 and item is sold locally, its not worth the hassle to wait 2-4 weeks for product to reach your doorstep.

New news from newegg facebook.

Newegg Malaysia has recently dropped their currency from RM3.5 to RM3.35 per 1 USD.
Previous: 1 USD = RM3.50 (market value : 1 USD = 3.29)
Current: 1 USD = RM3.35 (market value : 1 USD = 3.15)

3.35 - 3.15 = 0.20 (20% more , same gap as previous 3.5 - 3.29 = 0.21)

The extra 20% surchage in currency use to:
1) cover +10% hidden service charge and/or
2) cover any fluctuation currency within that particular week.

So not much improvement on their side yet in currency.

The only *improvement* is the promo (which they should implement long before they initially launch in Malaysia)

Below is a quote from their facebook page.

[EGG'NG NEWS]

Good evening, may we sell you some smiles

Greetings fellow brand evangelist and fellow Neweggers. In response to the improving Malaysian economy. We have decided to review on several of our policies, which we would be reviewing when the need arises.

We really appreciate your support and the reviews and feedback from both the forums and on the Facebook page, which is both encouraging and enlightening. The following are some awesome news we wanna share:

1) Currency Exchange Rates had been dropped to RM 3.35 to a dollar.

2) Promo codes are now applicable to get more discounts on the product requested. So be sure to look out for products with promo codes. Be advised, there is a time window that we will have to make up for as the promo codes are only applicable for a certain period. T&C do apply in the usage ie. all promo codes usage will end 2 days from dateline for Newegg Malaysia. Likewise, for product with a promo code and its stated "Limited Offer". Neweggers you are advise to ring us up to secure the deal within the day as the time window for its availability is unpredictable.

3) FREE! Games or accompanying items when you purchase products through Newegg Business or Newegg.com ie. Graphic Cards.

4) It used to be said that we only ship limited items, but these days we are liken to Amazon.com where we ship almost everything to Malaysia except products that have WIFI or LTE capability ie. phones or modems in accordance to SIRIM Malaysia. In fact, being able to ship in tablets and laptops which is also WIFI capable is a puzzle to us as well.

5) Speaking of tablets and laptops do check out Newegg.com for some amazing prices. And, the Nexus 7 (2013) 32GB would be priced at RM 999 inclusive of shipping.

We are well aware Asus Malaysia is pricing the 16GB at RM 999 as well and the 32GB LTE at Rm 1300. However, we are unable to ship in the LTE version to Malaysia. Be advised there's a waiting list for the Nexus 7 (2013). Warranty is applicable locally through Asus Malaysia.

6) Be sure to look out for AMD Radeon & Rosewill products on the Newegg website as well.

Thank you very much once again for all your generous support! We would attempt to provide the best service at our disposal.

We would attempt to send the tracking number asap as packing and documentation within the day depends on the number of product arrival.

>> The above is effective immediately after 6.30pm on September 19, 2013.

Thanks for checking! Have a blessed day ahead.

Warm regards, Newegg Malaysia Team.

There was another post on Lowyat that shows the email of the newegg staff not recognizing Newegg Malaysia as their official distributor in Malaysia. Find it strange though. I really hope they are not closing down because of that.

Also, it has been 1+ year and Newegg Malaysia is still taking orders from facebook instead of establishing a warehouse here and have a shop to sell products.

Crossing fingers that they will improve on their services and cut down those transportation fees and service taxes. That will benefit the customer and in return have more returning customers to order from them.

I think Newegg Malaysia is closed for good.

It has been more than 4 weeks (October 10 2013 till today) and yet they have not finished *upgrading* their system.

I guess newegg malaysia will never be able to see this coming black friday 2013 with their *snail-paced* upgrading system status. It's time to move on to a new middle-man.
