Newegg does not take stock from distributors, they negotiate their own purchases from manufacturers. In fact, they are so big, Malaysia distributors probably cannot even compare. If Malaysia distributors do not sell to them, it is not a problem for them because stock could be obtained from their other distribution channel. Shipment from China for a whole container is so cheap and considering the quantities they purchase, they can sell them at US pricing for most products without sales taxes.

The question is...should they and will they? smile.gif

conspirasi theory... local distro/shop retailer butthurt doing kacau?  ph34r.gif

Nope. We'd be happy to supply them with all the brands we have. But I never received a call from them. We are the distributor for Rosewill <Newegg's brand>. In fact, when/If Newegg comes in, it is LOCAL RETAILER and LOCAL DISTY that will butthurt. Do you even know the volume that Newegg has? Even bearing shipping and RMA cost all the way from China/US warehouse, you will still see better prices than all locally distributed goods.

online retailer or competitive priced retailer are less likely to be affected since their price is competitive vs USA ones. The first one will butthurt is I think is Asus local distro. May be AMD CPU ones also.

I personally think >RM100 diff vs the US price is just ridiculous.

AMD is dead regardless.

Asus' operation is a unique one, and yes they will feel it hardcore if Newegg can bypass all disty. The biggest question is whether these brands allow Newegg to do so.

Just imagine Walmart, Futureshop, Best Buy and the likes coming to MY. Seng Heng and etc would have no where to hide. The thing that is stopping them is actually volume and sales in MY. Our country's sales are realllly PUNY compared to other countries. Especially those where Newegg is available.

If you don't mind the older design, this is a good deal. It is below distributor cost and even adding up shipping, it's still RM 10-20 less

Except....

Palit GTX 770 Jetstream - RM 1399
Zotac GTX 770 AMP! - RM 1399
Leadtek GTX 770 Reference - RM 1399

You are paying RM 100 more for local warranty. One time kena warranty on GPU would cost you more money than you could save buying gray market products. If you compare with 770 Lightning at RM 18xx and Asus at RM 2k, that's totally understandable..you can send the card back 3 times and still have extra cash laugh.gif

There are many reasons why EVGA has failed many times in Malaysia. It is something that end user will never understand. Things are not as clear cut as "ok evga is an awesome brand in USA so it should be as awesome in Malaysia and every reseller would be overjoyed to be able to sell it".

Most distributors and resellers also won't care that end users are buying these cards from Newegg.my.

Sad but it's reality bro, this is good also to give Malaysian local companies a wakeup call to start improving to stay competitive in the market. thumbup.gif

Actually what is the reason that EVGA card doesn't sell here?  hmm.gif

Very long story, not our place to say anything in case something inside EVGA changed (internal changes).

Feel free to call Atek - Daniel and ask why they dropped EVGA. They have better rights to tell you why.

Malaysia courier only covers RM 100-300 for lost/damaged products. If end users did not purchase additional insurance (which they usually do not), then only the initially insured value can be compensated by the shipper. Shipper also has very thorough and tricky insurance claim procedure which usually requires consignee to make the claim within a certain amount of hours.

Malaysia courier tracking is also not exactly the best. Unlike larger countries, most goods are delivered within 1-2 business days. However, users in Malaysia tend to be really anxious shopping online and cannot wait to get the tracking number. If after gotten tracking number and shipper did not update the system messages such as "tracking number does not work" starts appearing in the mail box which vendor usually cannot do anything because that's what shipper would tell them "not updated in system yet"

Business is tough these days laugh.gif

Current exchange rate is less than 3.3. A pegged rate of 3.5 means that you are still paying 10% more laugh.gif
