Current exchange rate is less than 3.3. A pegged rate of 3.5 means that you are still paying 10% more laugh.gif

New news from newegg facebook.

Newegg Malaysia has recently dropped their currency from RM3.5 to RM3.35 per 1 USD.
Previous: 1 USD = RM3.50 (market value : 1 USD = 3.29)
Current: 1 USD = RM3.35 (market value : 1 USD = 3.15)

3.35 - 3.15 = 0.20 (20% more , same gap as previous 3.5 - 3.29 = 0.21)

The extra 20% surchage in currency use to:
1) cover +10% hidden service charge and/or
2) cover any fluctuation currency within that particular week.

So not much improvement on their side yet in currency.

The only *improvement* is the promo (which they should implement long before they initially launch in Malaysia)

Below is a quote from their facebook page.

[EGG'NG NEWS]

Good evening, may we sell you some smiles

Greetings fellow brand evangelist and fellow Neweggers. In response to the improving Malaysian economy. We have decided to review on several of our policies, which we would be reviewing when the need arises.

We really appreciate your support and the reviews and feedback from both the forums and on the Facebook page, which is both encouraging and enlightening. The following are some awesome news we wanna share:

1) Currency Exchange Rates had been dropped to RM 3.35 to a dollar.

2) Promo codes are now applicable to get more discounts on the product requested. So be sure to look out for products with promo codes. Be advised, there is a time window that we will have to make up for as the promo codes are only applicable for a certain period. T&C do apply in the usage ie. all promo codes usage will end 2 days from dateline for Newegg Malaysia. Likewise, for product with a promo code and its stated "Limited Offer". Neweggers you are advise to ring us up to secure the deal within the day as the time window for its availability is unpredictable.

3) FREE! Games or accompanying items when you purchase products through Newegg Business or Newegg.com ie. Graphic Cards.

4) It used to be said that we only ship limited items, but these days we are liken to Amazon.com where we ship almost everything to Malaysia except products that have WIFI or LTE capability ie. phones or modems in accordance to SIRIM Malaysia. In fact, being able to ship in tablets and laptops which is also WIFI capable is a puzzle to us as well.

5) Speaking of tablets and laptops do check out Newegg.com for some amazing prices. And, the Nexus 7 (2013) 32GB would be priced at RM 999 inclusive of shipping.

We are well aware Asus Malaysia is pricing the 16GB at RM 999 as well and the 32GB LTE at Rm 1300. However, we are unable to ship in the LTE version to Malaysia. Be advised there's a waiting list for the Nexus 7 (2013). Warranty is applicable locally through Asus Malaysia.

6) Be sure to look out for AMD Radeon & Rosewill products on the Newegg website as well.

Thank you very much once again for all your generous support! We would attempt to provide the best service at our disposal.

We would attempt to send the tracking number asap as packing and documentation within the day depends on the number of product arrival.

>> The above is effective immediately after 6.30pm on September 19, 2013.

Thanks for checking! Have a blessed day ahead.

Warm regards, Newegg Malaysia Team.

Ehh how do u even calculate 20% more... rclxub.gif

0.20 of 3.15 is only 6%. Your calculation is wrong.

Without the flat 10% on the total price, Newegg has return to being a cheaper alternative.

Example:

Current exchange rate of USD/MYR 3.15

Newegg exchange Rate USD/MYR 3.35

If you buy an SSD for USD100, you would pay RM335 for it. Not including postage from US.

However, if Newegg followed the 3.15 conversion and still charge the 10% flat service charge. You would be paying 315 +10% = RM346.5

If I may humbly ask when we compare exchange rates, would it be better to observe bank rates or google?

Bank: http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...s/BTRE-Treasury

Google: https://www.google.com/search?q=us+exchange...ate+to+malaysia

If we decide to buy from Newegg Malaysia?

Anyone have problem with their product?
All the item they are selling are water set?
Did you all manage to claim warranty?
Did they ask you to pay a big lump sum amount of money as a transport fees in order to claim warranty?
What are the T&C to claim warranty?
How fast they fix your item and ship back to you?
How fast shipping is from the date of purchase to your doorstep?
Got any difficulty to claim warranty like those happen in Acer and Asus service center where they treat you like a stupid person?

From today (28/10/2013) onward, Newegg Malaysia will stop receiving orders as well as quotation requests.

We will be going through a system upgrade and we will be closed until further notice.

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Thank you for the generous support!

p/s : All sales and orders before the 9th of October will still be processed by us.
