The anime is just so so IMHO. It leaves alot up to your interpretation and assumes you have played the game to understand the plot. Towards the end, the plot progression is somewhat unstable and alot of things left unexplained. But if you've played the games (or done some research on wiki) then you'll probably understand more.

If you find episode 1 boring, i don't think it'll get any better for you. Give it another 5 episodes and make your decision.
