hey guys... seldom post stuff in this forum but just wanna share what i did this past few weeks... smile.gif

(Initially I have an SGS2 i9100 with checkrom v4 and its default kernel)

So about three weeks ago (monday 30/01/2012) my uni semester resumed and I was attending my classes like normal. Unplugged my phone from the charger at 8.00AM and the day goes by, classes, lecture, bla bla bla... and guess what? my phone battery died even before my classes end (i think it was around 4.45PM - ~8.5 hours). Even though i have a portable usb charger, this incident got me thinking: what else can I do to make sure my phone lasts until the end of the day, where at least i have a proper wall charger to charge my phone?

And so i googled a bit, and also search through this forum (LOADS of info here, thanks biggrin.gif ) and decided to try underclocking my cpu to 800MHz max. (still using checkrom v4 default kernel) Again, I tested the battery life on a monday (06/02/2012) so that my usage pattern is roughly the same (same lecture timetable so I'm doing the same thing on a particular time of the day) and here's what i got:

9 hours 42 minutes. Enough for me to reach home and charge up my phone. Well not bad but hey, the phone can do better than this right? smile.gif

Well, long story short, the next thing I did was install siyah kernel and the thunderbolt script (thanks pikachu), tweaked the cpu a lil' bit (still at 800MHz max) and this is the battery life i got today (it's still 13/02 here...)

Now THAT's what i call result. Finally my phone is able to last the whole day. Well at least until I sleep, of course. smile.gif

Moral of the story: To those of you that think your battery life is not enough, try and look for solutions.. google, search thru this forum or whatever, and.. oh yeah, don't ask some annoying questions that can be solved with a simple google search, or questions that are already asked before in this forum. wink.gif

So that's it guys. (Just realised this is the longest post I've ever typed.. lol.....)

that's quiet a long elaborate post lol
but did you have lot of acc set to auto sync?
*
yup... everything is synced 24/7... facebook, twitter, gmail and microsoft exchange... i know it affects the battery life but i prefer to get my updates and emails immediately... hehe smile.gif

You need more googling then, your battery optimization is horrible! Look at all that wakelocks, even if you have auto sync on, you can time them nicely so they update at same time so it won't cause so much wakelocks. If you fix that I think you can last twice as long
*
lol whut? didnt know i can time my stuff to update at the same time... everything is pushed to my phone btw... mind telling me how to do that? kinda failed to google that this time... =.=

Don't think he was referring to the push ones, more of the auto sync in intervals.

Like set them to the same intervals, and then start sync in the settings menu so they all start syncing, and the next interval happens around the same time
*
ohh phew... thought i missed out something... wokay i'll have a go at your method and see what happens...
and..... just to confirm... the four main apps i'm using (fb, twitter, gmail and microsoft exhange) all uses push right?

Can't exactly confirm since im not 100% sure, but based on my understanding, the notifications are, but the sync items are not (like fb/twitter can sync contacts and news feed, think that's on interval basis)
*
yeah the notifications is what i'm talking about.. i've disabled sync contacts for fb and twitter so that my phone contacts dont have those people that i barely know... alright then... thanks a lot for the info! smile.gif
