Best part of Amazon is that they tend to price match their games prices a lot if not lower whatever other services are having sales.

Don't really bother with CoD titles sales. Unless you have special discounts like coupons. Most of their titles despite a year or two old are still sold like new releases.

The only exception is the sales for MW2 on amazon currently going for $4.99.

I would rather say its the red tape and restrictions imposed by the local distributes and retailers, they just want to horde all the profits rather than competitively price matching with other regions. Currently they are well aware that digital retailing is a serious competition to them, thats the reason why lots of retailers right now are either going digital or making exclusive deals with publishers to sell exclusive store bought copies like special DLCs and stuffs like that.

Agree, digital is the future but physical retail will still remain for some time as there still quite a number of consumers prefer those like physical bonuses. Though physical will always remain less cost effective due to cost in physical distribution (transport, warehousing, manufacturing, etc.).

It is, profits wise why there's always different publishers representing every region. A good example of when things gets too messy can be viewed in cases between Namco Bandai and CDP for distribution and royalty rights for the Witcher 2.

Not surprising. Some titles show up exclusively on other sites before even showing up on the Steam store. They still can be activated from Steam nonetheless since its already in their registry system.

There are very high piracy rate in Rus, they do this to "localize" their market. However for the most part the downside is that most games sold in Russia are only intended for their market and underlining eastern european blocs like Ukraine including patches, technical support and languages.

All I can say if you really intended o buy or trade Russian regions games or keys just pray services like Steam or Origin don't catch on. They have full authority to banhammer your account without prior warning.
