Hai guise..

to the campro users here, just wanna ask a quick question? has anyone's car overheated before?

yesterday, i checked my coolant, which was full. reservoir was half full. drove to rawang and back. this morning i checked, my coolant disappeared. weird? there is no leaks (as far as what i can tell), gasket leaking? theres no trace of oil in the radiator.. what other possible causes?

Possibly hose leak between your coolant tank to the radiator. Usually assoaciated with older cars. You should be able to visuallise it if you look close

Ya i know, summore still stubborn drive to rawang.

I mean the collision may have shorten the lifespan of the part, even if your car still young. For example a component crack sikit sebab coliision, then over next to years the crack become bigger then kong lor.

OK, based on what I've experienced before:

1. Check if you reservoir is full when your radiator is empty. If there's a clog somewhere or your radiator is overheating, water will tend to pool in the reservoir tank. Could mean the water pump, the thermostat or clogged tubes.

2. Check if the radiator tubes are rubbing against any metal parts. The create minor tears in the tubes which will not be visible when the coolant is cool. Water will only start leaking when everything gets hot. Drive around until the radiator fan kicks in (which means the system is already hot) then look for water leaking anywhere. That's how I spotted mine

Hope the tips help smile.gif

Pour in coolant if you don't use any, coolant dries with white residue making it super easy to see any leaks

I assume coolant disappeared meaning coolant loss. First thing you should do is flush it and then refill properly with coolant. By properly I mean there should be no air bubbles in the system. Clean up the spark plugs, rad cap, inlet & reservoir. Then use the car for a day. After that you can do your diagnosis.

Things to look for are:
- Color spread around the engine & rad coolant inlet. (hose/radiator leak, thermostat)
- Coolant level in the reservoir. It should be over max when hot, down to max when cold. (hose/radiator leak)
- Coolant shouldn't have faint petrol/exhaust smell in it. (gasket leak)
- Exhaust smoke shouldn't be white when hot. (gasket leak)
- Fan should be running properly. (fan motor, electrical)
- Coolant shouldn't jump out like spring when start the car at cold and rev it. (gasket leak)
- Coolant should be flowing out the inlet/through steadily when car is running. (water pump, electrical)

The cheapest stuff you can replace are:
- radiator cap
- thermostat
- fan motor

Problem was due to a problematic thermostat.

Thread will be left open for future discussions and easier reference. TQ
