Idk. For me, both has their pros and cons. Console good for platformer, racing, and fighting games. And of course many cRPGs (i.e. Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, etc) are console-only and for those with PC port, the PC port is usually quite awful.

On the other hand, FPS games, RTS and MMORPG undeniably belong to the realm of PCs. Console gamepad has limited customization option compared to a nice keyboard. And on a RTS, being able to toggle groups just by pressing a number button is crucial. Same goes for weapon change in FPS and MMORPG. Also, RTS games, using a mouse to instruct your group where to go is faster than using a gamepad stick to move onscreen cursor.

And don't get me started on sim games. Most ports of sims on consoles I've seen are abysmal. All the non-PC versions of SimCity I've seen are slow like tortoise. And managing layout in many sim games rely on mouse- often, switching to use a gamepad makes it much harder to be precise.

That's why I have both gaming PCs and consoles.

One more thing I should point out- Many consoles can at least use keyboard. Just that the game dev don't want to implement keyboard and mouse support for whatever reason.

No point puting keyboard on a console as developers has to re-program how the games/application function with a keyboard. Not as simple as a PC where drivers take over it. Not to mention remapping the keyboard. Like they say. Want to play using keyboard and mouse, get a PC.

I forgot to add, for the games that do handle keyboard on consoles, the keyboard is only used for chat. sweat.gif sweat.gif

QUOTE(ramz @ Feb 13 2012, 03:50 PM)
for shooting multiplayer, is it still fun if you use a ds3 controller while your opponent uses mouse/keyboard? statistically, mouse/keyboard will always pawn ds3 controller. isn't that an unfair advantage for the mouse/keyboard player?

Isn't it also unfair if you use DS3 while the opponent use one of those keboard-and-mouse-to-PS3 adapter like Eagle Eye, RateUp, MayFlash, etc?

I'm okay with both tho- I hate playing SIM and RTS on console because slow and difficult to control compared to PC and the playing field is really uneven sometimes (no official keyboard/mouse support, but determined people can import adapters that let mouse and keyboard emulate DS3 or 360 controller for a price). On the other hand, I dun like playing racing and fighting games on PC because the games are keyboard-only and PC keyboards aren't optimized for lightning trigger reflex that is needed for fighting games (that's why FPS main control is the mouse, not keyboard). Heck, I still remember when some keyboards spaz out when you press more than two keys at the same time.
