Hi all, I'm currently changing the switches and wall sockets around the house. On that, I am also looking for a replacement for the following green/red starter switch for the aircons around the house (picture below). What alternatives can I replace them with so I can match the new switches. Will be using Clipsal Vivace series. Thanks. Picture: Cheers.

If your aircon is below 2hp and new type, just direct secure joint. No need switch. This switch is not much use unless those motor starter switch.

You don't need starter switch in most a/c, is all build in (usually up to 2.5hp)
Normal high current switch like Leeyung post will do.

Hi, thanks all for your prompt feedback. No, I don't have to change to green/red ones, the clipsal 20amp double pole switch is indeed a good alternative I'm actually only needing one of them as we're taking down two old aircons and replacing it with a 2hp one. According to my contractor there is a challenge o replace these green/red switches due to the way it was wired, I would need to clarify more details to see just what the concern was. Would there be a huge difference in the way it would be wired between these two switches? Thanks and cheers.

looks like these are the control switches link to your a/c control panel with 1.5mm wire, you can't use the 20A switches like above...

You have to open up the switch and let us see the behind switch and the wiring.

I replace such switch before (per the photo), Is not control switch. It only have 6 wires. 2 from DB, 2 to A/C. Earth just short it together.

I'm facing aircond on off switch issue, contractor did a shitty job, pull power line from standard socket port out, (1 to 2) one side for my TV, one to my aircond and join with a switch, which melted as photo. Bought Schneider 20A switch to replace. However, noticed that earthing is only for load side, not for power input side. How? Any sifu here facing same issue like me? Melted switch. 1.5HP Panasonic aircond. This post has been edited by alvinlim11: Dec 13 2017, 09:35 PM Attached thumbnail(s)
