I prefer solid surface because I think it gives the kitchen a modern look but make sure the solid surface is of good quality. Local product not so trustworthy.

some solid surface are also a local product.

what is pros and cons if compare among solid surface and granite? which one easy scratch?

solid surface easier to scratch but solid surface can be polished.
if talk about pros, i think granite definitely tops solid surface.

that's mean solid surface better than granite?

No one talk about concrete.

Granite is still the best. Lasts a lifetime. Low maintenance and good looking. Solid surface is expensive, can be scratched, and polishing costs is also very expensive. Seriously, I think solid surface is just overrated.

solid surface hardness is very very low only, I remember I viewed a data sheet of a brand of solid surface (forgot which brand) it mention you can polish the surface using scotch brite, and solid surface definately kalah jauh jauh if compared with concrete or granite etc due to is durability

What about concrete table top ?
With and without tiles.
I think this 2 should be included as I believe they make up a big % of the Kitchen Table Top being used.

Why you guys want so tough table top? You not putting ton of heavy thing on it. And after 10 or 20 yrs, it bore to see while there is new design and trend in the market. You can't change either cause you want it last a lifetime?

Just hack the plastering out, and do another color plastering.. Hehe, that is for my wet kitchen concrete top

granite better

Solid surface, if you buy Korean made like Samsung.. is 2x more than normal local. Is harder and more selection of color. But is Expensive and still scratch easy.

I just use normal wood laminated table top sit on the cabinet. The surface is rough and with like sand color. It tough too and can put a just burn hot wok on it without any burn mark or scratch. Sometime I just do the cutting on it. It made in korea.

Basically, everybody pick quality over cheaper cost but high maintenance.

to me personally, Granite serve better purpose + it increase the whole house value if you want to sell your house.

People would want a nice looking kitchen therefore, its better for them to buy a house which is ready made than they renovate themselves
- i think this is a right mind set. now maybe the the reno cost maybe 1k-2k for just a simple tabletop but with the increase of living cost.. (i'm talking about malaysia trend of, Minyak naik+Govt Wage Naik= barang naikx2). By the time you want it to do the same it may be jacked up to 2k-4k for the same thing.

it require time + extra misc cost.

why no silestone? quite nice. ah quartz, didnt see that

actually it depends on what color you want your counter top to be. if your design needs a solid white, you wont be able to use natural stone like granite.

solid surface advantages is that it can be polished back to new condition. you can shape it to almost anything. and you cant see the joints. any surface also can be scratch. granite also has its own set of "problems". it is porous. solid surface and quartz are not. all got their own pros and cons
