It is highly possible we will have UEFI in notebook (I think till we see 3TB 2.5" HDD).
But UEFI in N45sf, do you have the source of the information? Or this is your wishlist? This post has been edited by ALeUNe: Feb 5 2012, 12:36 AM |

QUOTE(pandera999 @ Feb 5 2012, 12:05 AM) any source say it support?? From this wikipedia site column..intersting ts bro... ".....In 2009, IBM shipped System x machines (x3550 M2, x3650 M2, iDataPlex dx360 M2) and BladeCenter HS22 with UEFI capability. Dell shipped PowerEdge T610, R610, R710, M610 and M710 servers with UEFI capability. More commercially available systems are mentioned in a UEFI whitepaper.[23] Many Sandy Bridge PC platforms use UEFI....." apparently, my n45sf, 2nd generation Intel comes with a sandy bridge motherboard and got this UEFI option in the startup BIOS.. Added on February 5, 2012, 1:40 am QUOTE(ALeUNe @ Feb 5 2012, 01:36 AM) how does this uefi interface figure?? LoL Added on February 5, 2012, 1:59 amyet, i never heard any news from other sandy bridge / UEFI users before?? CALLING TO ALL UEFI USERS PLEASE... I'm not sure about N45SF.. but for DV6, UEFI are use mainly for updates and diagnostic. Everything else it still use BIOS.
Btw with UEFI interface, you can use mouse to point and click. |

No bios start screen? I have SSDs in all my machines. Still I see startup screen. UEFI is the firmware interface. Are we talking about the same thing? |

I don't see fast boot up. It is just normal boot up on SSD. |

Well yea I think most if not all Sandy Bridge machines have UEFI already. Its just that not all of the machines have a fancy GUI that has been promoted a lot. In its core, it supports UEFI. However, manufacturer decided to put old BIOS looks instead of developing a brand new UI for UEFI. Hope this clears up your doubts.

QUOTE(soloinruds @ Feb 15 2012, 11:50 AM) It isn't useless..... Its just not in the form how its marketed. That is all. However, I do not have much experience with newer Sandy Bridge machines to justify whether current UEFI implementation speeds up the time taken to POST. A properly optimised UEFI can POST in just a second or two. I remember seeing a video of that years ago. Not sure how it is in reality today. |
