have to agree with starship's comments. I've test drove the new civic, and vtec still sounds as good as ever. don't think the exterior is as bad as publicized - you just have to see it in metal. interior is not the greatest, but I can live w tht. Will be booking one soon + adding the modulo kit

i do agree tht the driving exp is not as "spirited" as compared to a vw, but for 130K - is there a better option out there? besides, i've browsed through vw forum and there are just too many common issues on failed mechatronics, dsg gb, etc. althought it's covered by warranty, leaving ur car in the workshop for a few weeks is not cool

i think civic is one of the best option out there given the price range. i've also looked at other models, but most of it are nearing the end of its lifecycle. my plan is to get the new mazda 6 w its new takeri concept in the next 2-3 yrs so getting a car now w good resale value is an important factor for me personally

tht's one option that I've considered. but then again, assuming I plan to sell off my car in 3 years time - i believe the civic can still fetch a price of about 100K based on the price trend i see in carlist. and this will still be an attractive buy for potential buyers as there will still be remaining of 2 yrs warranty. however, i dont think mazda 6's value will be on par w civic in 3 years time, especially when there's already a newer model out there in the market. just my 2 cents

bro, i don't think i have ever seen a new model launched which is priced cheaper than its previous version. the price increase for 2.0 is about 2K. if you averaged out 2K over ~5 years, and factor in the inflation, and some of the features given and also the new 5 years warranty - i dont think the buyers are any worse off. i think the debate between SOHC vs. DOHC will be never ending, but to the normal users - i dont think the difference will be obvious.

btw, i dont understand when ppl debate over if a car is value for money. i always see a car as a lifestyle, and a choice. i've already accepted the fact tht owning a car in malaysia will never be cheap. so the question should always be - how much you are willing to spend? not which offers the best value.. cars that are so called value for money usually have an underlying reason why they are priced lower.. right? haha

haha, well i guess this is just my short term plan. in 3 yrs time, w my increments, bonus and promotions - i should be able to afford a car above 160K quite comfortably. and by then, i'll expect a whole new range of car models to choose from. so an upgrade by then, sounds well deserved

so between M6 and civic, i'll expect civic to carry a higher value. although M6 may be a better car, but it has been around for far too long. i rather get a newly launched car. and worst case, if i dont intend to sell - it should still be a good car to use for a couple more years considering it's still under warranty and part of the servicing is still covered

well, if that really happens, and assuming used car prices erode - then i always have the option to keep it or pass it to my parents. and i'm sure many ppl incl myself is one step closer to owning luxury cars within an affordable price range. consumer still wins at the end of the day. and my 3 yr plan has been fast forwarded to 5 years or more, cuz by then - i can drive home a premium conti car sooner than expected!

booked a 2.0S white on saturday. but the SA told me can only get in Sept / Oct. is this true? I see some ppl getting their cars much earlier in this forum. Besides, I didnt get any discount or freebies..

and what car tint brand did you all request? price?

the quote you gotten, is it from Honda? Or are you planning to do it outside? I'm thinking letting Honda do everything would be easier

how much are you paying for the led side step? are you planning to install modulo as well?

really? painted grille better looking than chrome?

i thought chrome would be nicer for taffeta white.

I think the modulo grille will only look nice with white colored cars. The black will blend in well with the overall white. Other colors doesn't go well at all, as the black will be too striking, just like the pictures we saw in the earlier post. Just my 2 cents.
