if our car industry was an open market, it would'nt be hard. look at the US, koreans sell remarkably there.

korean marques sell remarkably in the US? do you have any sales figure to back that up? well, no doubt that their sales are improving, but they are still playing catching up in the US market.

for the month of june 2012:

-- The Ford F- series pickup remains king, but the Chevrolet Silverado pickup is back as America’s No. 2 seller in June after being bumped recently by the Toyota Camry. However, the redesigned 2012 Camry leads Silverado through the first six months, 213,903 to 194,508.

-- It’s a sedan traffic jam on June’s best-seller list. Mid-sized and small cars are packed tightly in the sales race. It’s No. 3 Toyota Camry with 32,107 sales followed by Chevrolet Malibu at 31,402 and Honda Accord at 28,924, then No. 7 Honda Civic 27,500, Toyota Corolla 26,647 and No. 9 Ford Fusion at 24,433.

so yeah, most of US citizens still prefer the 2012 toyota camry and the 2012 honda civic.

lazy to explain. keyword: hyundai elantra.
*
the elantra? well, it ranks no 19 in america's june 2012 best selling list and its sales dropped 5.4% compared to june 2011. in fact the best selling korean marque in america is the hyundai sonata at no 15. so what about elantra? no doubt that it won the 2011 best compact car in north america, but it can't even touch the sales of the universally panned 2012 honda civic. you see, i'm not trying to bash the koreans, they make good cars recently like the elantra and optima, but not just malaysians suck up to toyota and honda, even the americans as well.

Bro ure not getting the point. Would Americans still buy the Camry if it came with 2 airbags and a 10 yr old gearbox and engine? But Malaysians are still doing that despite having to pay so much more. So u cant compare Americans and Malaysians and say both are the same. Yes both may support the same brand but they are not supporting the same specs at the same price level. If the current Camry came with the same specs as its American counterparts, even i might be tempted to get the Camry ( that is if i can overcome the poor design).  biggrin.gif

yeh bro, i totally get your point. as you can see, i'm not saying that the camry or the civic ain't overpriced, they are in fact overpriced when compared to the korean marques, but hey kia and hyundai are represented by AP king Naza and government owned SDAC... they are not playing on the same ground since day 1.

my argument is actually directed to those that are trying to convince everyone that the rest of the world had abandoned the japanese which ain't true at all.
