Another Opinion

Test drove new civic 2.0 over the weekend. Better than expected after all the negative comments heard. Summary is as follows:

Like: Drive, cornering, steering, interior, exterior, fuel economy, not need to press button to unlock car
Dislike: Acceleration, radio design, rims

Although much the same power as previous gen, acceleration even on second gearpaddleshift is not to my expectation, very linear delivery thanks to soch migration. Spoke with owner of 8gen 2.0L civic, he told me acceleration has less roar and surge. With RM90 which is near full tank, the 2.0L will take you 450-460km max with econ mode on according to salesman. Overall i'm generally pleased with quality of car.

Last thing and can others verify this...salesman told me 0-100 is about 13 secs for 2.0L? Too bad i didnt try unsure.gif but this sounds very the sucky. I will test Ford Focus as second choice before i decide to change car. To me, i'll pass on Elantra.

Yea i must agree that the Mazda6 is a nice looking car in exterior and especially interior.

But after all the fuss about Korean cars n all, i think i still prefer the new civic so far. If only the new civic had a sunroof i think their sales will be boosted! To be fair, i will test drive my friends Elantra soon.

To the guy who bought without test driving, dont worry, many have here including myself and feedback is positive on handling. To the dude who cancelled the Elantra and bought civic, can you elaborate on how different the handling/bumpiness/cornering/acceleration/engine noise/etc is?

Thanks...

Question:I know its prolly a bit too early to ask, but for those who are driving their 2.0s, what is the 0-100 time?

On the questions regarding resale value, i think the correct approach is to calculate the annual depreciation of each model on annual basis. im no accountant but i guess this will work.

Sometimes cabin noise also depends on road. Some roads are noisier than others.

Anyhow, finally decided and booked a 2.0L white smile.gif

Next challenge: to find covered car park near my office doh.gif

So anyone here tested the 0-100kmh with paddleshifters yet hehehe. Still mentally scarred from what the salesguy told me when it first launched...13 secs for the 2.0L! Friggin hell man, n i still went ahead to book it blink.gif

BTW, salesguy also told me i have to pay RM360 for the number i wanted, provided its not too obvious like 8888. Is this consistent with you guys here? Too bad salesperson was not a chick or a hot chick, otherwise i would just pay...damn in hindsight how can i think of car first

Hi guys. Been doing a bit of back-reading. Seems many thinks buying a honda would b without much probs. Well having owned a cbu model, its not perfect. But i can say engine n gearbox is very reliable n i am enjoying good mileage of 330km for every rm50 pumped with 80% city driving. For first time honda owners please manage your expectations blink.gif

Btw, if u guys org any TT session please count me in....would b nice to share experiences with others. But my car only coming 1st wk oct doh.gif haha maybe later

know this is not a performance car but have been searching performance specs for the 2.0l like top speed n 0-100 to no avail. Would really hate to see a myvi1.5 outsprint a civic. Prob the 3rd time im saying this lol

Just got my car yest. Ahhh...i can get used to this interior. Feeling is better than expected.

One question: Know i shouldnt floor the car so soon but i did. Sounds very rough (2.0L). Is it meant to be like that?

Damn, grazed 2 driver-side rims as i whacked an 'invisible' kerb opposite empire ON the federal highway to KL. Miraculously body unaffected. MCB.

Those who aren't familiar with subang, please be careful of this ridiculous unpainted kerb, which is so hard to see at night n when its raining.
