Congrates on the 2.0s. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I enjoyed the test drive myself and is actually damn surprised how fast my wife booked the new Civic after dragging her feet on the forte for the whole month.

well, if that really happens, and assuming used car prices erode - then i always have the option to keep it or pass it to my parents. and i'm sure many ppl incl myself is one step closer to owning luxury cars within an affordable price range. consumer still wins at the end of the day. and my 3 yr plan has been fast forwarded to 5 years or more, cuz by then - i can drive home a premium conti car sooner than expected!
*
Premium conti is definitely possible if you are taking a 3 year loan for the civic now or paying it in full.

A 110k loan is still about 2.1k to pay every month for 5 years, 1.8k or so if 9 years. My relative is paying 3.4k now for a loan of 246k for 7 years... Ouch

So if you see yourself being able to put in 2.5k to 3.5k per month or put a huge downpayment. It's definitely very possible to achieve that goal 3 Years from now thumbup.gif

I dont think anybody has said that the world has abandoned the Japs. The sales figures are proof of that. But what many ppl are saying is that the Japanese will become irrelevent in time if they dont keep up with the tech especially when not only the Koreans but also the Europeans are starting to better equip their cars in Asia while still offering affordable pricing.
*
But they are keeping up with tech. They are just branching off in a different direction compared to the Europeans by going electric and hybrid. IMO, superchargers and turbocharging have been around for awhile now, if they had wanted to offer it, I'm sure they could have done so long ago but they aren't, and their offerings of recent years are both standard petrol and hybrid versions.

Diesel engine isn't even an option in many parts of the world which they sell their cars except in Europe.

Plus Cody did highlight upon one fact, both Hyundai and KIA are carried by government linked companies so who knows what sort of benefits they have when their cars are assembled and imported here? Not sure if UMW is the same, but it probably has some government links as well.

that make it more difficult choice to choose as the price difference is not that burdensome on me . i check the lenght and width of latest civic and teana and the difference in L&W is Teana is 1.5 inch wider and 13.5 inch longer . easier parking manoeuvring for Civic but Teana more comfortable . BTW , what is teana service interval . was it 5k or 10k KM
*
Just plan out your finances first la!

a. What's the maximum amount you can pay per month and for how many years?
b. Have you let a 2nd hand dealer take a look at your car to determine how much you can sell it for if its trade it?
c. If you're not trading in your car, how much do you think you can sell your car for online or to another potential buyer?
d. if B and C are both not options you are pursuing then what's the maximum down payment you are able to put down?

Finally:

Have you actually test drive both cars yet?

The Teana is a bigger car no doubt, but the 2.0L base model is just that, basic. You'd have to fork out a LOT more for the 2.5V in order for it to be on par in specs with the 2.0s Civic. What is it that you're looking for in a car? What's your priority and then compare and you have your answer.

the car is already in honda sg petani. and they will sort out the documents, NCD, blah blah blah. if not next week then perhaps next week of the next week. i guess this will be it - buy without test driving.

Bro, you've got nothing to worry about, I've tested both the Forte 1.6SX and the Civic 2.0S

1. The Civic engine still feels more refined, the engine builds power smoothly and it is less harsh compared to the Forte's engine. The firewall on the Forte needs more improvement as well, I can actually hear the harshness of the engine at high revs and it can get a little uncomfortable.

2. The 6 speed transmission on the Forte does an adequate job but gear transitioning feels a little better on the Civic's 5 speeder

3. Both cars are plasticky on the inside

4. Sound insulation is slightly better on Civic compared to the Forte. They both aren't great but if you were to spend money to improve the car's quietness, then the Civic will cost slightly less

5. Rear space is adequate for both cars, my wife reported no issues.

6. The Forte is very well equipped for the asking price. It's really got a lot of toys and features. The only thing to do is to upgrade the lights to HID and you're done. Even the Forte 2.0SX has 2 more airbags compared to the Civic 2.0S, simply fantastic value.

Yes, I m insulting the hybrid civic as PONDAN car. I seeing civic as associated with speed and power. As traditional Honda civic manufacturing. But now, put some lower power engine, some heavy battery in a great car?

What is the 'power of dream' mean to you? Ask the Honda change it to 'saving of dream'.
*
If you haven't noticed already, Japanese manufacturers are moving towards electric and hybrid. The Civic is just another casualty of this green environment and Eco movement. It's going to continue this way for years to come so deal with it

zweimmk, the 2 litre u tested, was it fd or fb? U put it 2.0 S, i forgot fd or fb. Hehe.

If fd i think okay la.because the double cam sure bit quiet.but fb got single cam which is going to be a bit noisy.i hope they insulate the cabin well no excessive sound can go in.

Gone to possibly all SCs i familiar with in the northern region.apart from Formula Venture butterworth - they got one unit running, it is on trade plate, wonder why but crazy que - i cant find any test drive cars.

I hope everythings well. Hows the missus car? Arriving soon?
Had a dealer appraise the 07 city and can get 45k. Loan still pending bank approval now as docs only submitted on Thursday. SA told us if want the car fast just switch to white as it is ex-stock but going to stick to silver coz less hassle in cleaning. Arrival expected end of this month but may delay taking the car until 2nd week of August because of loan payment dates.

The unit tested was a non navi 2.0s, if not mistaken, all civics now SOHC. Personally, I think it's good enough for all intents and purposes thumbup.gif

I know Honda will go hybrid way back 2005. Even you never heard of it that time. My company is making machine for making hybrid engine part. Than following Honda exit F1 where is surprise everyone.. Honda start not to dream for chasing power car. Instead green. Have you follow this?

But why not leave civic alone and create a new line of hybrid car? Just like Toyota. They don't put hybrid on altis, etc. instead they create new line hybrid car like Prius and now Prius C.

Yes, I deal with it. No more Honda for me. How am i going to buy a civic which is no improve over gen8. And yet more expensive.
*
Actually I already know coz my bro in law works as a supplier for Honda as well. They supply the gasket and oil filters. Anyway, The trend will continue this way for years to come with more hybrid options.

why is that happen?  unsure.gif
*
Relax, it happened to me as well before I got my Passat.

I suspect either JPJ system really down or the SA/runner dropped the ball. Anyway, it should not take more than 1 day to get your car registeration to link into the JPJ system. 2 is really the max.

there were a lot of trucks on the road yesterday, they carried civics. no other models just civic
it seems they are pushing for delivery in the nearest time. but i saw them in penang mostly
dont forget to check car that allocated to u. just to please the heart hehe

if the SA is pretty quick maybe tomorrow can clear the documentation. just wait on monday or tuesday.

congratulation mannn!
*
If the car is already in showroom, then tomorrow actually can get car if the car is linked into JPJ because the PDI only takes like an hour at the most (probably more like 15 mins can already). If the SA get the runner to submit whatever documents today and if system not down, sure can get car tomorrow.

the other thing included in my case is i am doing number plate retention.
which means the old car needs to undergo puspakom. i asked him to do everything as i dont really have the time and patience to go wait there. furthermore puspakom nowadays u need to book first the time and date to send your car there. i wouldnt dare to pay the rest of the downpayment if i wasnt sure the car is there.

last sunday i paid the rest of DP for the car
then monday he said take back NCD and tuesday confirmed everything about NCD solved
then both of us stopped contacting each other and to be honest i dont want to because i want to see how things go first. i strictly told him not to go beyond this week and i am giving him all the time and all the spaces he (might) need to do these stuffs.

so if he has to go beyond this week, maybe after some smiles and sure the keys are in my possession, i definitely WILL RAIN THE FIRE on him. maybe official complaint.
*
Haha, sounds good. My wife's side got some hiccups with the loan application. It's even starting to piss me off right now that I told her, if today cannot the loan resolved then fxxx the bank and just apply to the bank I'm using now.

Seems like each Bank has its own set of rules ? Why is that so I am puzzled here.
*
Who knows? Maybe the loan officer is incompetent, we'll never really know the real reason. One stupid loan also can drag nearly a week, ask this and ask that, submit this and submit that until now also cannot approve yet.

The loan that I took for my car is complete opposite - morning submit all required documents, evening approve already.

i was like ... whaddafcuk?
kastam excise duty? jesus christ whats going on

and as for NCD, he told me last sunday when i put all the DP he was going to handle it the very next day, and by tuesday when i texted him he said done about NCD. so it was about 2 days? 3 days maximum how do i know he bluffed me or not. and he was going to handle those number plate retention thing. then i decided not to contact him until just now when i bashed him kaw.

i asked him how many f days he needs and he told me next week latest tuesday. this time i took it like he said nothing considering the earlier promise about friday and i insisted do not go beyond this week. he should have comeback and update me on this. instead i need to contact him then only he told me these shite.

i am drafting the letter is english tonight and maybe convert to japanese later. will check again with my japan educated friends

kastam excise duty.. really? and if it does, 5 days and not cleared? sweet lord.
*
Ya he's yanking your horn. Dafuq man, kastam duties on a locally assembled car? LOL! Next he'll tell you parts are missing so need to wait for shipment from Japan to arrive

Btw, if you guys are doing 3M tint, you should get a e-warranty approximately 2 to 3 weeks after your tint has been done at a 3M authorized applicator in your email. It should look exactly like below. There is no hard copy unless you print it yourself so your only other proof before this is to keep the official receipt given by the authorized 3M applicator

It goes the same to me, I went to test drive both and sure you will find the different.

Initially my choice was peugeot 408T, regardless of performance, pricing, and spec it reserved my first pick, but HM strongly disagree due to uncertainty of realibility & high maintenance.
*
Your HM is a smart woman. Top class car when everything is in order but still let down by really 3rd world service. And French reliability... too many issues you can read online by just looking around. If you young and no family yet, it might be worth considering even with all the potential issues attached, otherwise, I'd say just save yourself some potential pain and suffering.

bro, i'm wondering the dealer didn't pickup my email and how they're going to email this e-warranty to me, or they has no intention to do so in first place. Is it normal or SOP that the dealer must dispatch this e-warrantly to end clients or whats the practise most dealer do?
*
Did you do yours at an authorized 3M applicator? Check your receipt and then match with the link below

http://solutions.3m.com.my/wps/portal/3M/e...me/Contact/WTB/

Only those listed in the page above are authorized 3M applicators, if you do it elsewhere, no guarantees at all.

First of all, camry is not for u to race,i don think Safety is important for me. Camry design looks fine to me,in fact, i have Honda civic and Toyota camry.Camry interior= more quality feeling. As long as I feel the camry's comfort is there, and i don't worry about 5 years later i sell my car to used car dealer, they can take my car @RM120k,im ok with it.
Don't tell me a lot of % to me, make it real and feel it urself , go and ask used car dealer about the price, how much u can get from them.

Warranty? i dont really care, once my free service finnish,i will not continue service. been using Honda and toyota for so long,so far they are quite good. (maybe im lucky?)
*
5 years down the road, you will never be able to sell your car for RM120k, no way no how. I know for a fact that a 2007 Camry will only sell about 110k or so to 2nd hand dealers and what more it's a 2.4V, originally bought for 162k new. If you sell on Mudah, maybe can get la, but bear in mind that's a 4 year car full spec car.

2.0G Camry maybe at most fetch also about 95k to 105k in 5 years time, if you sell when people also selling current gen Camry, you take another hit in the RSV.

The current KIA Optima, who knows how much it will sell in 5 years time, but I don't think it will be too bad like the old KIAs, but only time will tell.

Good choice.

Whether or not it was my old altis or my current ride, both also got UV cut glass and without tint, parking under the sun, it's still very hot. The only effective method when parking under the sun is to have your glass tinted with a good solar rejection film.

But remember, heat will still build up in the car if you park under the sun for a few hours, the difference is the heat will disperse much faster with tinting vs without tinting.

Hi everyone, wanna ask expert here....
1) What is the best way to install secondary security on your car? would it be steering lock, brake lock, etc.
2) Re tinting, which is the best tint available? Kindly share =). I dy saw HU, 3M etc. Think Ecotint is not good? (Heard from SA).

Thanks for all your comments.
*
1. Need or not?
2. I'm using 3M, very happy with it so far. Tough to pass through Smart-tag, but I'm okay with that, just wind down windows only. I used vkool elite before in my old car, very good also but also have Smart-tag issue. Ecotint ain't bad either. I dunno about Huper Optik.

If you do 3M, make sure it is done at authorized 3M film applicator, you can google 3M malaysia facebook page for more info on where to do it.
