Hi all,

Been reading this thread for some time. Decided to start posting here as I need some advice from you guys.

I have roughly 1.5yrs experience in assurance, and am offered an advisory job in another Big 4. At the same time, I have got the opportunity to join one of the Big 4 in SG in Assurance. Personally, I like the job scope of what this Malaysian firm is offering. At the same time, currency factor is making me contemplating should I take up this offer from SG, although I didn't really like the job. It feels like kinda wasted opportunity to work in SG if I were to reject this offer.

What you guys think? Should I take up the SG offer, or to wait for another 2 years to apply to SG again after gaining some experience in this new job? My concern is that if I were to reject this opportunity, I might regret if I am not able to get any good offers after 2 years, since they are tightening requirements for FTs these days.

If it were up to me, it depends on whether you want to come to Singapore for the money or not.

If you do, then the time value of money dictates that the sooner you earn it, the better off you will be. So come immediately. And as you alluded to, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. The offer from the SG firm is tangible. Who know what's the situation in 2 years time.

If you don't (ie. you're wishy washy about job scopes etc), then make the conscious decision that pursuing your interests is more important than the extra money. Therefore stay in Malaysia.

Based on the options available to you, you can't have both.

Thanks for advise man.

When you decided to work in SG, was it because of something that u really wanted to do, or was it the money?

Hi all,

Going to work at Raffles Place. Wondering which area is a good place to stay, preferably near to town. And how much to budget ah? Looking for a room, and not staying with owner.

Where shall I wait for the bus after I am done with the immigration? Is it very hard to locate since I suppose there will be a lot of vehicles going in and out.

First time taking bus to KL as in:
- you always drive?
- you always fly?
- you never travel back KL from Singapore?

Good luck if you're got hold up at custom. I've experienced not once but a few times the bus simply drove off because some passenger were too slow to board at custom.

If it takes causeway link then it's more troublesome. But usually Sg-KL from CBD takes 2nd link.

Always take train lol. Am a lil worried cos I am using a temporary EP (the paper copy before collecting the EP), wonder will it take longer for me to clear immigration.
