Even assuming the expenses are correct, he actually has more than 3.5K left in SG because he has this big landed house in MY which he can rent out and offset against his rental in SG.

Also, if include taxation - the impact in MY will be much greater than SG.

Salary alone is more than that. Plus all the agents fees, govt fees, insurance, checkup, install surveillance camera, buy safe to keep valuables etc... much more. Then the maid also need to makan, minum, mandi, main, tidur, tidur+main... all who pay?

btw, I just ask opinion. from myself it's no brainer la, i will choose sg over my.

Btw, have a gf studying medicine in unrecognize university by the Singapore Medical Council, do you think she be able to work in Sg? In 2 yrs she will finish her medicine degree. I hope I can settle with her in Sg and she can work at sg too. No point to continue the r/s if we each other at our ego and kill our careers.

MY lousy contractor keep thinking I owed him big time for diging my back yard at my expense, should I send him back by MAS?.... fly kite him.

If there are other affortable alternatives such as MRT, ferry and pedestrian link along current causeway then I don't mind a hike in private car toll fee to increase public transport usage, I get faster clearance time for a fee but definately not in this robbery manner.

Can ask the JB police to rest for good, what's the point to catch small thieve in dark alley while allowing big robber operating 24/7 in front of Johor Istana... Oh.. the crime rate does not include bluntant corruption/robbery... ah I'm sooo forgetful near GE.

I think if to buy a house and live the rest of my life there in SG is pretty difficult if salary were not higher than Sg$8k a month.

It has been 10yrs now for me at work in SG.

i felt d same feeling living in SG aft 4yrs too . me, instead go back kl , i opt to re-locate to jb and cummute daily.
aft a year renting a room, then moved in own home as single, then bring in a partner to share, then & then till got no time to get bored...

I opine, one will feel less bored if you change your living enviroment from time to time, specially after you owned a home, your mind & time will get very occupied besides work .

consider yourself lucky man... i lost 5 months of my income and the money my parents gave me as a goodluck angpow to start my new life in sg    ...  total nearly sgd 50k in 2 months also.. i was so cash short, dare not borrow money from colleagues as i was new fearing it might damage my reputation and there's no ah loong in singapore... i ended up borrowing those easy cashline from several banks, ended up paying 24% interest p.a.      in sg those banks are the ah loong!!! i had learned my lesson... although entering casino for foreigners is free, it is actually a trap... 

now i only visit mbs to fly kite or rws for uss and fireworks show... dare not tell my parents what happen  sure kena bantai
