I wonder why there are no such great offers in Malaysia?
Even if the phone comes with a plan, the phone will only be subsidized 20%-30%.

Strength of the currency. Malaysia telco subsidize rm500 = 20-30% of the handset cost. Singapore telco subsidize sgd500 = 50% of the handset cost.

I am from Johor..and the distance between SG and my hometown not really far.it takes about 1 and half hour to SG...sadly,I dun even receive even 1 interviewing call for the time being....

supply and demand. if there is huge supply for local singaporean fresh grads for your field, why would any company go through all the trouble to even call you for an interview (unless it wants to hire you cheaper than locals)?

If you are considering a move to SG, ppl will not only arguing bout working benefits and environment but instead ppl will be much more concern about social lifestyle, family comfort, children education, healthcare, political stability, safety etc

1 more thing for sure, the KFC incident will not happen in SG at least.

I am not underpaid in MYR tho, but I've fix expenses of around 3500 in MYR, so after deducting both sides expenses I must have substantial saving.. Thats the thing I am not sure how's expenditure in SG.. say I dont smoke, dont drink, dont club, dont gamble..

u can live off 500SGD + rental....the rest can go into saving.
if u can survive with the same amt in RM, i dun understand why u can't with SGD
ur 3.5k RM fix expenses will become ~1.7k SGD, so i still dun see why u can't surive with that. sweat.gif sweat.gif

lets do some simple math.
say u now earn RM5k
Fixed expenses = 3.5
Leftover 1.5 for food and the rest + savings.

in sg, say u will earn 5k sgd
Fixed expenses = ~1.7 (this is already over with the current exchange rate of 2.4 instead of 2)
Live off 1.5 for food and the rest + savings (lets make this same as u are back home).
With this, you still have an extra 1.8k from the difference in number due to currency diff for the fixed expenses
Unless your rent is more than the 1.8k, I dun see how u will not be able to survive and save.

Lets say I earn 4.5k SGD over there and 2K SGD is my fix expenses there (rental + food + logistic + etc), i left out 2.5k SGD which comes around 6K if the xrate is 2.4.. after minus my fix expenses say 3.5k, I've only left bout 2.5k savings +-.. consider good?

Just extracted the 2012 pay scales for my co.

Entry level - RM3,800 vs S$3500 or 1:0.93 (it was RM3,681 vs S$2,980 in 2011). So whopping 18% payline adjustment for Singapore.

First level manager - 1:0.68

First level director - 1:0.71

Looks like manager and director salaries in Malaysia are climbing quite fast (or SG is remaining stagnant). When I came to SG 6 years ago, it was 1:0.8 for managers and directors.

noone can tell u if it is good enuf for u with that amt of savings, cause diff ppl have diff type of retirement life.
but u just need to ask urself this...can u save at least 2.5k every month now and is it worth to be away from family and friends for that amt? laugh.gif laugh.gif
2k expenses is a lot, so you might be getting more to save, unless u dun control ur urges for branded stuff since the number looks smaller compared to back in m'sia.
