QUOTE(LiangZhuge @ Apr 19 2012, 04:57 PM) If the Degree is not written in English (my friend one was from UM), they need you to get it translated and verified, etc. If the University is within the list in MOM, it should be quite straight forward. My uni is University of Adelaide which was the one which President Tony Tan went to. So it should be quite straight forward. I applied for My EP last Friday. Dunno why it's taking so long to approve

QUOTE(deodorant @ Apr 24 2012, 11:56 AM) didn't you already ask this, then a few of us already replied, then you MIA never read the replies and come back ask again? My fiance = 2 days, Me = 2 weeks. Ya I read yours. Because of the tight regulations, I do not know what is it like now. Because it has been 1 weak and i am getting pretty nervous.

QUOTE(yhoong12 @ May 2 2012, 02:19 PM) MOM reject the application of EP w/o giving you the reason? is that true? so under what condition will kena reject? Well typical reason. Your credentials is not good enough. But they refused to give the reason. I mean so far what i can think of is that I was a former singapore PR who denouce my PR because of national service and that i was working here for 6 months before. But it was a very long time ago. Added on May 2, 2012, 2:48 pmQUOTE(Aloong @ May 2 2012, 02:26 PM) This is very weird....was it so long that you couldn't remember or you not sure cos that time was Malaya time (i.e. no SIngapore)? QUOTE(yhoong12 @ May 2 2012, 03:14 PM) That mean you come to singapore to work again? So now your EP is rejected? the hiring company plan to appeal for you? Ya. But I do not know the reason why my application was rejected in the first place.

QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ May 2 2012, 09:59 PM) when toll booth stand high high then it is erecting lor some say they see face also.. is that true? did u paste a pretty pic?... tried appealing already? ns to protect the country lor... ppl dont value it until invading army rape their mother, wife and daughters Ya. I think I am quite handsome. Well, my company needs me a lot so they did appeal for me. But I am really confuse now. To be honest. MOM never told us the real reason as to why my EP is rejected. I am not sure to be honest. I have tried means to find out what is the real reason as to why I got rejected but I was not being told. I guess what I can do is perhaps persuade my job agency to ask them if previous PRs who renounce it because of national service would have it count against them when applying for EP. Another thing was that I worked here a very long time ago for 6 months. I do not know if that was counted against me. ya. Let the citizen protect their own country then. I am not a citizen of Singapore. It was a big mistake that my father applied PR for me when he was working in Sg. If I knew of the consequences(Have to serve NS). I do not think my father would have applied PR for me at that time. There was in fact no benefits of me being a PR. I am able to enjoy most of the benefits due to the fact that my father was a PR. If there is a war, how would u know that I would continue to defend Singapore and not my own home country.

QUOTE(crazy25kid @ May 3 2012, 02:26 PM) Actually, why do you all blame the parents for applying PR for the kid? We do not know their reason. They may or may not know that their sons will have to serve NS. They may have applied PR for their son cause at the moment, the parents might have thought of enrolling the kids to schools in Sg. They may have applied PR for their kids so that they can be together instead of taking the risk of applying a dependant pass (yearly?) with a chance of getting rejected. It's not my parent's fault. Of course they do not know. If they knew they would not have applied in the first place. I do not need a PR to study in Singapore rite? My father was based in Malaysia not in Singapore. It was hindside that my dad applied PR for me. If he knew about this NS thingy he would not have applied NS for me. My brother was not a PR while he was schooling and took up PR only after he finished uni.

QUOTE(yhoong12 @ May 7 2012, 10:40 AM) Hi, I guess this question sound stupid as other might asked b4, i just want to know what is the pro and cons for to become a PR? I know somewhere in the thread got the answer, but is the thread just damn too long to look for, so hoping anyone can just answer my question, pro and cons in term of anything. TQ very much Just make sure that when u become a PR make sure that ur sons does not become one otherwise will have to do NS. Added on May 7, 2012, 10:43 amI am just curious. For Employment Pass. Do you think they will check your tax records in Malaysia? This post has been edited by sylar111: May 7 2012, 10:43 AM

QUOTE(megadisc @ May 7 2012, 11:16 AM) PR - higher change of getting jobs but pay CPF which we will have no chance to get back sons not PR is good Singapore has no agreement with malaysia to declare our income tax so we are safe for now...10q gahmen. yeah still got wan lah ...my boss still interviewing candidates. Who says u have no chance of getting your PR back? My father was a PR there and he now has the choice to get back his CPF. Just that he is keeping it there as CPF gives high interest to his deposits. Dun forget, your company pays an extra 12 percent for you. So you get an extra 12 percent in income. Unless you can find an investment that can supplement this 12 percent with your 10 percent income. It's a good deal.

QUOTE(r1v3r @ May 7 2012, 02:19 PM) Not all people think like you. Some military training for young man is good and I believe in fairness. If 2nd Gen PR want to continue their stay/work in SG, they should contribute by performing his duty else he can go other country. Some family also believe in "live together as one". When something bad happen in MY, the worst things is your son will not join the rest of the family in SG because he chicken out his NS. Added on May 7, 2012, 2:28 pmadded: You can get your CPF back after some time but not your PR. Are you sure that 2.5 years of military training plus approximately 1 month of military commitment each year is some military training? If it's 2 months or 3 months it would not have been such a difficult decision. The amount of years spent doing NS is enough to mess up your future commitments. Some people cannot do medicine even though they got accepted because of this commitment. Added on May 9, 2012, 3:35 pmQUOTE(deodorant @ May 7 2012, 02:47 PM) You're not getting his point. Assuming you don't give up your PR, you can't happily withdraw everything from CPF at 55th birthday. I dunno the details but you can only withdraw some ridiculously small sum, then the rest government will only give you back by monthly payment over next 20 years or something like that. If you give up your PR, and if you are West Malaysian, you still can't (immediately) get your CPF back, still have to wait til 50-55: http://mycpf.cpf.gov.sg/CPF/my-cpf/Overseas/LivO9.htmK. My dad is no longer a PR there because he's not working there anymore This post has been edited by sylar111: May 9 2012, 03:41 PM
