1 advice for u....
Semicon is a dying field in Singapore...
*
Cikopek,

Is it true on what you said? As I know some companies are still actively hiring.
My friends got hired by Microns and AMD and some SME as R&D just a while ago and the pay is not bad at all.

I am not too sure about the BIG picture of the industry whether it is dying or not. Can you elaborate more on that?

QUOTE(ham_revilo @ Apr 9 2012, 01:18 AM)

i kinda dont understand why there will be higher chance of me securing a job in SG if i stay in SG. i know its easier to response to calls and interviews but then i already stated in my resume that im available for interview with 2 days notice. to me, MY and SG is not too far apart and with me staying in KL area is even closer to SG, so i think it does not make much diff besides not having a SG number. please do correct me if im wrong. notworthy.gif

*
ham_revilo,

Let me share my experience with you. Been posting resume to Singapore jobs in KL since end of 2011 and not getting any call at all.

I came here in beginning of March(just 2-3 weeks ago) and kept posting resume. The only difference is the phone number. I got call from 3 different companies for interview on 2nd week of my arrival. Now I have found job.
If you ask me, I would say coming to Singapore does somehow help you to increase the chance of getting a job. However, YMMV.

Hi guys,

Got a question with the mobile plan here. I saw starhub has this "Caller Number Display" which is $5+ a month. Is this normal? I have never seen charges like this before...so we basically have to pay $5 a month in order to see the caller's number?

So if I don't pay the fee does that mean i won't be able to see the caller's number?

Hi guys,

I am planning to open a bank account here. Which bank would be better choice? Got many suggestion on OCBC and POSB.

Not planning for any CC yet as I am a poorfag. Convenient enough and maybe slightly higher interest rate will be good XD...maybe 0.0x%/month?

dbs/posb the.best bank for.me but.the atm queue always v long... maybe u can consider uob then get the debit card can also multi function to use to tap mrt and bus just like ez link.

also uob acc.can.withdraw from.ocbc atm 3x a month.free of.charge

Wlcling,

I must. comment. on. this. You use. period so. random. rclxms.gif

Anyway, opened OCBC account yesterday. Minimum 1k in account is a must or I will be charged $2 a month.
If account closed within 6 months there is a $30 charge. Both conditions not a problem for me so I went with their "Smart Parent" account. (Just a name, I'm not a parent)

No bank book, only ebanking account, monthly bank statement, and a debit card. Pretty standard. nod.gif

Hi guys,

I heard that if I want to take express coach in JB there is a bus station just around the JB checkpoint, meaning don't have to go all the way to Larkin.
But I don't seem to be able to find it tho, tried asking around the other day around the custom and everyone told me to go to Larkin.
If anyone knows, kindly let me know the exact place where I can get the bus ticket near custom. Thanks.

Hi guys I'm planning to go sg in future.
Id like to know a few things.

1-is there room for rent that can fit 2 ppl but cost sgd 800 or less?(I share with other person)
2-what's the requirement for applying work permit?

Thanks
*
Mr President,

America needs you more than Singapore. tongue.gif

Anyway, please define "fit". Some SG common room fits even 5 people. And yes 800 SGD definitely can get you a normal room in many areas of SG.

If you fit in the job.....company will do the rest for you. Worry about your qualification for job first.

QUOTE(ntick @ May 11 2012, 06:20 PM)
Does any one know how to block ourself not going into casino?

I come 2 sg 2 months already, but almost loose all the money...
Maybe because in sg no friends......and life is boring...enter casino just duno where to spend time in weekend...

I loose more than 5k SGD within 2 month......2 month working effort donate to casino already...

I dont know why will be like that , everytime when i enter casino, i just want get back initial capital but keeping loose again and again......
the most biggest bet i place is 2k.That time i place BIG but it come out "wei sick"

Really regret...because 5k+ i can paid half year rental already (700 per month). When i was in casino..., having said that , the chip that i hold , i could not feeel it was a money. When i come out, i was know that...it is a money.

Just want to ask how you all spend time in SG?
Anyone experince b4, how you all overcome it....

Thanks
*
There are many places to go other than casino la bro.

Sad man you came all the way here to earn money and then lost all of it. What's lost is lost, thinking of getting the money you lost from gambling by gambling again is the worst you want to do.

As they suggested, can join their activities. I can see you are making quite some money since you have 5k to lose in 2 months. Stop gambling now and plan for your future~it will be sad to have a msian coming over sg and end up with nothing...or worse boro from ahlong(touch wood)

Anyway, hope you learned from the mistake.
