I think this breed is illegal in Selangor

Shiba Inu was never listed in the banned list. You must have mistaken it with Akita.. which is banned from import only.

There are still local breeders of this Akita species. If not for my better half, I would have gotten an Akita instead of a Shiba Inu.

I used to have a Shiba. She was ''dognapped'' 3 years back. She was already 12 years old then. In future, I will most definitively get another Shiba!! smile.gif

I saw an imported akita up for sale.
His head level at my waist, i am 170cm. Their teeth very big, strong and that akita very very big size.
I think is american akita. Definarely not japanese akita.
Anyway, base on true story hachiko is akita. But in the movie hachiko, that is shiba inu. Because akita is too fierce to shoot movie. tongue.gif

Is Shiba Inu naturally a picky eater? My Shiba don't really want to eat her dry food. She just nibble a little every now and then. But she wouldn't mind the canned food though. LOL

How can I make my Shiba eat more? I have use the 10 minutes rules and no treats unless I am training her. She still refuse to eat. Tried changing her food as well but she jsut not bother.

Anyone has any idea what to do with this little pest??

When I first had Creamy, she was like that. She would pick on her food. I changed the food that the breeder was feeding her to Acana, She ate it all within 3 min for about 3 days then slow..and finally just pick a bit. She would take a few bites then stop eating. I had to resort to putting bits of chicken, beef or pork (all cooked) into her dry feed. BTW, I soak her dry feed with water before feeding it to her.

Then she got diarrhoea. I took her to the vet, he asked to stop feeding her for 24 hours. Something like letting the bacteria run itself out. Then proceed to give her 1 small piece of chicken fillet ( about the size of a man's finger) boiled in water. The chicken is to be shredded with a fork. This is to be done at 2 times a day. The next day, it is increased to 3. Then the following day, add a bit of the dry feed with that small piece of chicken. 3 times a day. Increase the amount of dry feed to 1/2 the regular feed, by the 5th day, you can totally remove that boiled chicken.

My Creamy now is so happy to see her food. All is gone within the 5 minutes. So I say it is a blessing in disguise she got that diarrhoea.

This is also a way to see if your Shiba Inu is allergic to chicken. If you see your Shiba Inu scratching itself after the feed, please stop the chicken and replace with beef or pork or fish. Then check your dry feed.

Another thing, in that 24 hours, my Creamy looked so pitiful. She would whine and whimper. The vet says unlike human, dogs would digest almost 90% of the chicken. So Creamy won't die from the lack of food. And i would also know if she is allergic to chicken.

it doesnt work as well, i mixed a bit of canned food for her and she eats it but after two days, the whole process start again........ but I do noticed she likes egg, and if I mixed it with the blend dry food ( yes, I have to blend it to stop her seperating it from the stuff she will eat, faint) she usually wont resist.

But then I have not given her egg with food every meal, so I dont know after few consecutive meal with egg, will she refuse it as well or not... LOL

Also, she is in heat right now, 3 weeks already...... when is she gonna stop??

Took Chiyo (my shiba) to the vet today. Vet said she is having pro-long heat cycle, LOL . Gonna have to bear with it for another 10days or so.

Took her to the Setia Alam dog park to run around off leash yesterday. There wasnt any dog around so can let her run freely even she is in heat LOL. Great to see her run freely. Plan to take her there more often when she is completely clear to prevent any untoward incidents hahaha
