I believe the same thing..it's the fully syn ATF instead of a normal mineral oil ATF..that will justify the higher price. For a heavy footed or a racing kaki that always shifting & revving to the max, it's worth to use this fully syn ATF to protect your GB..but for an uncle-like driver like myself or for a normal daily driving, using the recommended SPIII mineral ATF will do..no harm done

Hi bro, since you have changed your rims from 17" to 16", can you let us know whether there is big difference in acceleration & fuel consumption? Ride comfort definitely would have increased & less painful on wallet when replacing tyres. biggrin.gif

I am driving 1.6SX & want a bit of ommph..... 17" too big for 1.6 engine. Thanks!

May I know how many km is it already on your ODO meter??
Mine juz clocked 2000km 1months+ but the FC is still quite bad...About 10.7l/100km 50% highway and 50%city. Dun really speed much maybe juz once in a while on highway about 10mins 140km/h, 1-2 times per week
Reading from the ODO meter shows 9.8l/100km but when I do my own calculation it shows 10.7l/100km

Is this normal??  rclxub.gif
*
Hi, are you driving a 1.6SX? I am and the mileage I am getting is around 10.5l/100km actual. There is about 5% "bullshit error" means meter will show you lower l/100km reading. My mileage around 14K now. That is why I asked bro izputra about changing to 16" rims to improve FC & accleration.

Any other bros here can give modification suggestions to improve FC? Thanks!

For the extra 12k..u will get :

1) Of course the 2.0L engine..extra power & acceleration on your right foot  tongue.gif
2) 6 airbags
3) Cruise Control
4) Leather Seat
5) Motor Driven Power Steering

Worth your 12k? It's your money..your life anyway  nod.gif

In term of FC, for city driving, u should expect a bit higher in FC comparing to the 1.6 Forte but it justify the extra 'kick' that u have. For highway driving, i can say that the FC is more or less the same with the 1.6 Forte (if not better).
*
Usually if have the budget, no need to ask this question.... direct buy the 2.0 biggrin.gif For people like me, budget a bit tight - hati mau 2.0 tapi poket cukup untuk 1.6 - then will see whether extra justified for 2.0 or not.

It is not only the 12K - you need to add interest on the 12K, extra road tax, extra insurance for the goodies & the "extra kick in the backside" for something that is not going to last forever. Just my point of view.

For me, 1.6SX good enough for what I have paid for..... imagine getting a Vios for that price shocking.gif

Hi bro, what did you do with the ori 17" wheels after you changed to 16"? I want to change but if I trade in the ori 17" then next time maybe harder to sell the car if the buyer wants whole car ori look. Thanks.

Yet to know it. In term of specs..yes..Forte is beaten even though we compare it with the full specs of 2.0 Forte (except for the 6 airbags, leather seats, EPS, reverse camera, 17" rims) . Additionallly the P3 got 7-speed pro-tronic CVT, multilink rear suspension c/w stabilization bar, anti-trap power window (driver side), rear fog light, ISOFIX seat mountings, GPS navigator, DRL, auto wipers, follow me home light, in-car Wifi & not to say the all new 1.6L turbocharge engine with 140PS & 205Nm of torque from 2000-4000 rpm (Forte 2.0 got 156PS & 194Nm of torque @ 4xxx rpm as comparison)..quite impressive i must say.

But in term of car performance & built quality..still in question. Anyway, i have test driven the Exora Bold that wearing the same 1.6L turbocharge engine & i can feel that the 'pull' is strong enough for an MPV..so i can easily conclude than this engine is more than capable to 'pull' the P3 even better (smaller & lighter car) & i have a strong feeling that this car will accelerate as good as my 2.0 Forte if not better...

Hi, when you changed your rims to 16", was was the offset of the new rims? Our 17" offset is 50mm & I checked a few shops for 16" and they all have offset of 38~40mm. Any problems using a different offset?

For bros & sis who is driving EX with 16", can you please look at the spare tire & see what is the offset which is marked ET on the inner surface of the wheel spoke? Thanks a lot.

Aside from offset you also need to see the width of the rim and how wide a tyre you plan to put on the rim. All of these have a correlation to achieving a proper fitting.

IMO + or - 10mm on ET is not a problem if you keep the width of rim and tyre within 10mm from stock.
*
Hi thanks for your feedback. From website calculations, if change to 16" with offset of 40 (original 17" with offset 50), the tyre will jut out 5mm more than current which should not be a big deal but not sure about stress on the wheel bearings and other suspension components. Other way is to add 10mm spacer but then less theard for the lock nuts liao.

Hi, you can try to adjust the dimmer switch at the lower right side of the dashboard. Maybe the guy accidentally adjusted it.

Hi, is it possible for you to clarify if the KNN fileter will void the warranty for the car??
*
They may say not void warranty now but later when your car have engine trouble then they will say the K&N void the warranty. All use words only no written black & white then don't believe.

In fact I am using a drop-in K&N filter now in my Forte. My strategy is to replace the old filter just before servicing. When it is time to change the air filter say at every 20K, I will just pay for it & then change back to my K&N later & repeat this step for every service.

Sure I may be paying for the paper air filter which I will not be using but I guess it is cheaper than to repair the engine when they tell you the K&N void your warranty. This is my "insurance". :-)

Is there a significant difference with the KNN filter?
How much was it??
*
Hi, yes, there is a significant improvement. When I drop it in & went for a drive, I was smiling all the way! It really makes a difference at low revs & when you want power, just step on it. Costs about RM2xx, you can buy it online at lowyat Automotive Garage from speedworksonline, very reliable seller. This mod is really worth it, no regrets at all...... well regret I didnt get it earlier when I got my car (1.6 SX) :-)

Hi~

Good day.. I would like to ask about the new forte owner... do u all still getting the infamous pull left problem from the new forte.. i am a big fan of forte for quite long till i get into this issue.. please advice. thanks.

heard that the new forte changed the electronic steering to hydraulic version? so no more left pull issue?

I am still deciding between the city and forte... forte seems to give best of the stuffs.... Hail forte.
*
For those folks facing pulling to left problem or other alignment problems, I recommend you visit this tyre shop:

Raydiance Wheels, 23 Jalan PJS8/12, Mentari Business Park, Bandar Sunway.

I was facing steering vibration problems when hitting speed of 100~110 km/h. Went to a few shops but they cannot rectify for me. So I looked up this forum & found some member recommending this shop so I tried. They have special discount for Kia Forte and their equipment is quite sophisticated so I am sure your problems can be solved!

Less than 30 mins. You can have a chat with the owner, David Wong, who is quite knowledgeable in tyres. Discount special for Forte due to Kia Forte Club initiative.

Hi, after they have done the job, did you find scratches on your dashboard or not installed back properly? I am also facing this dashboard noise problem for over 9 months but don't dare for them to do as scared of scratches. Another squeaky sound just came out from the cup holders behind the gear shifter. blink.gif

Any one of you experience the steering shaking/vibrate when reached 100km/h or above?
My new forte got this problem, is it due to alignment or balancing problem?
*
More of balancing than alignment. Complaint to SC during your 1st 1000km visit.

Yes, mine is like that sometimes. I suspect connection loose somewhere from camera to rear view mirror. Will ask SC to check the next service.

wa..lol...from the review seemed to be working...can have better FC..lol...

I have installed VS in my car & FC did not improve much. All it does is stabilize your air con & elec system so it uses less engine power but not worth the money to put in the VS. The effect would be greater for older cars since their system has deteriorated so the VS can shown great improvement compared to installing it into a new car.

It would be better to put in a K&N filter for more power & more mileage if you can control your right foot after you put the filter in. biggrin.gif

btw, i found that my front hood got some spot where the paint seemed to be off...asked the SC during the last service, he said that it is due to bird poo... shocking.gif ..no warranty for that..if wan to fix that need to repaint which will cost me 400-500.. shocking.gif

i am tinking of sticking 3M carbon fiber on my hood...but the color looked like not so match with my titanium silver...any suggestion?
*
If you drive it the same way before you put filter, mileage can increase but after you feel the power increase, then your right foot would want to press more so your mileage will decrease. Understand? rclxub.gif

Haha, I am planning on buying too, and my 22yr old corolla should be going into the family's back-up car.
Love the cruise control in 2.0, but in dilemma should I get the 1.6 instead due to future maintenance cost. In general terms higher cc cars will have higher maintenance/parts cost. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Anyhow, if buying a 2.0, with a little top up I can get a POLO Sedan. confuse confuse confuse.
Require spoon feeding!! laugh.gif
*
1. If you can afford it, get the 2.0. Sure no regrets. biggrin.gif

2. If you can only afford 1.6 (like me), put in a K&N filter then you won't feel regret as you can feel better power & no more sluggish feeling. Even better if you can downgrade to 16" rims. This way you can save 10K compared to buying 2.0 including savings on road tax, insurance & interest over the years of ownership.

3. Don't get POLO sedan if you can afford Forte 2.0. Sure its a VW but small & performance same as Forte 1.6. If you want POLO, get the hatch with TSI engine then can really feel the power.

BTW, i was read some posts regarding K&N filter which are able to increase horse power, was it true? how its work? where can get it? when is the right time to install it? and how much it cost?
*
Hi, I posted on K&N a few pages back but no harm repeating for bros sake. I am driving 1.6SX for 9 months & always feel frustrated by lack of ommph tho I could not afford 2.0 at that time. Anyway, I bought a K&N drop in filter & it has really made a difference to low end torque. No more sluggish feeling. You can get it from lowyat Automotive Garage, look for speedworksonline, great seller. Price between 200 ~ 300 but definitely worth your investment. After all, its only 0.2% of your car price. biggrin.gif

Thanks for your suggestion. BTW, i got some info from K&N website that you will require to re-oil it after 50000km. So i am thinking whether UTR metal filter is better with almost maintenance free except wash.

Added on May 6, 2012, 10:13 pmWhat about  www.kaitospeed.com, speedworks's competitor. One claimed that the other is not original but the other defend strongly.
*
For re-oiling, you can either buy the kit or go to Speedworks in Section 51A in PJ & do the re-oil for RM10 (need to confirm the price with them). So doing it once a year or 2 years once not so troublesome for the extra ommph you get every day. biggrin.gif

I do not know about kaitospeed.com but since I have dealt with speedworksonline, I can vouch for this seller who is quick to respond, responsible & deliver as promised.

Dear All, I do find my 2 weeks old 2.0 Forte ride slightly bumpy. Anyone care to share anyway to improve the ride comfort? Or rather it is just how the car has been tuned sporty.

Also, is the central console cup holders below the gear knob gets warm all the time? I usually left my car key and iphone there. They do get warm all the time.

Cheers.
*
The bumpy ride is due to the 17" rims Forte is riding on. Change to 16" for better comfort & FC but sacrifice the sporty look a bit.

As for the center console cup holders getting warm, it is because our Forte engine is designed with the exhaust manifold behind the engine (closer to passenger compartment) compared to most cars with the manifold facing the front of the car (nearer to front bumper). This gives better power since exhaust gas travel path is shortened but then the heat generated by the exhaust manifold "seeps" into the car.

To help reduce some of the heat there, put a small layer of foam at the bottom or get those el cheapo sticky mats & cut to shape to fit into the cup holders. Not 100% but better than nothing. biggrin.gif
