I am looking for a new car as a replacement for my old iswara and after doing some survey, i am deeply interested with kia forte 1.6SX.

As this will be my first car (buying using my own money), I would like to ask some questions:

1. Due to my parents intervention, they are against me on buying Korean cars whereby from the rumors they heard (which i somewhat disagree with them) that spare parts for the korean cars is somewhat expensive. To what degree is it true to this? Will it be the same if its Honda? or Toyota or perhaps Ford cars?

2. 9-year loan. All the disadvantages regarding 9-year loan for a car aside, will i actually secure any loans for this period of time if i wanted to buy the car? Or maximum period of loan repayment is capped for 7-years? This will be my 1st time buying my own car, appreciate some advises on this.

I have pre ordered 1.6SX last week and it came WITH 1.5k discount (its either discount or dvd+navi HU or leather seat) + bodykits (as well as other smaller goodies such as tinted voucher rm500, boot tray, floor mat + etc.).

I guess so. when i place order for 1.6SX last week, SA told me that only Bright silver, Titanium Silver and white color available on all trims of forte. Kinda bumped, coz i really like Metal Broze. the test drive unit is on that color though~

The guy from the Bank called today to inform that my loan for 1.6SX has been approved. Tomorrow will go to sign the S&P. Any advice to look for in the document before i pen down my signature?

I received my 1.6sx yesterday.

No rattling sound on doors, steering no vibrates if drive 100km/h above, alignment is okay. all and all, im very satisfied with my ride. that is just a thing that really bumps me, SA promised to give 5-inch GPS and its nowhere to be found. im just excited playing with the touch screen HU, and kinda forget about the free give promised earlier. haha.

Gonna continue driving the car some more today to detect if there's any abnormalities on it.

My 2 day old 1.6sx can't start. basket!

I woke up today morning planning to wash the car. when arrived at door, try to open it but failed. need to use the key to open the door. 1 thing i've noticed when opening my door is that the cabin somewhat dimmer than usual. initial thought was the battery. try to push the start/stop button, nothing came up, feels like battery is weak.

It really bumps me, 2 day old cars and the battery is already weak? or perhaps something else is wrong with the car? can't fix it by today though, since all SC closed on sunday, according to the girl who answer the 24/7 emergency assistance number.

Will update tomorrow the real cause of the car breakdown.

Nope. when i check just now, no power what so ever left in the car. This morning the cabin light can still lid, but become dimmer than usual. Now the car is like no power source connected to it.

Will call the breakdown assist first thing tomorrow. Hope it just the batt issue, nothing more serious.

That's what exactly i have did, with the help of my neighbor. power restored to the car, i guess tomorrow gonna double check with SC.

Im using the HU as above and here's a few thing that i've noticed.

1. the mute button on the steering wheel does not do exactly what it needs to be done. instead of muting, it'll increase the volume.
2. call button does not work.

overall, i think the player is ok. Another major bump is that the TV function does not work as well. I believe there should be another type of antenna for that. Anyone got a solution for this?

PS - my ride is 1.6sx 6 speed.

I bought the car on March 2012 before the new model with pre installed came in. My SA did offer this HU as one of the free gifts.

is there really an improvement when using K&N air filter? Im curious, dont wanna spend RM200-ish worth of money if there's nothing to be improved for the car. Any feedback guys?
