tat's mean no point to spend extra money for higher capacity!!! sweat.gif
*
Not to say no point getting the higher capacity battery, but in term of car performance..there's no obvious difference (at least for me).

But higher capacity battery is good for a car with higher electricity load (e.g. your car got accessories that consume more electricity like DVD/GPS HU, phone charges, high power headlight/foglight etc..the higher capacity battery will last longer in term of electrical power...

Already booked P3-21A CFE for my wife..tired of waiting for the Rio to come in. The specs somehow better than my 2.0 Forte except for the 6 airbags, leather seats & EPS..but it quite worth the indicative price of RM75k..for a Proton 70-72k should be an appropriate price for me.

Same like when i booked my Forte last time..just blindly book the car without ever seeing it in real life..lol. No regret buying the Forte though..hopefully this car (P3) will give me the same outcome..will give another chance for Proton this time to prove itself

will P3 able to beat forte?
*
Yet to know it. In term of specs..yes..Forte is beaten even though we compare it with the full specs of 2.0 Forte (except for the 6 airbags, leather seats, EPS, reverse camera, 17" rims) . Additionallly the P3 got 7-speed pro-tronic CVT, multilink rear suspension c/w stabilization bar, anti-trap power window (driver side), rear fog light, ISOFIX seat mountings, GPS navigator, DRL, auto wipers, follow me home light, in-car Wifi & not to say the all new 1.6L turbocharge engine with 140PS & 205Nm of torque from 2000-4000 rpm (Forte 2.0 got 156PS & 194Nm of torque @ 4xxx rpm as comparison)..quite impressive i must say.

But in term of car performance & built quality..still in question. Anyway, i have test driven the Exora Bold that wearing the same 1.6L turbocharge engine & i can feel that the 'pull' is strong enough for an MPV..so i can easily conclude than this engine is more than capable to 'pull' the P3 even better (smaller & lighter car) & i have a strong feeling that this car will accelerate as good as my 2.0 Forte if not better...

Wow, this is your review based on paper...anyhow, still need to test drive?
*
Yupp..the specs are taken from the so-called 'leaked brochure' posted in the several car blogs. Still need a test drive to get the real feel of the car..but if u wanna feel the new turbo engine power & torque, u can get some pictures of it by test driving the Exora Bold. The engine is quite impressive i must say though i can still feel the 'springy' nature of the CVT transmission during take-off. But the CVT is smooth nonetheless. However, i'm not sure whether the 7-speed pro-tronic CVT equipped in this new Proton P3-21A (which the Proton salesman said is not the same with the CVT in the Exora Bold) will performed even better or not. But with paddle shifters (which is not equipped in the Exora Bold), i believe this car drivability should be better than any other Proton cars for sure.

Hi, when you changed your rims to 16", was was the offset of the new rims? Our 17" offset is 50mm & I checked a few shops for 16" and they all have offset of 38~40mm. Any problems using a different offset?

For bros & sis who is driving EX with 16", can you please look at the spare tire & see what is the offset which is marked ET on the inner surface of the wheel spoke? Thanks a lot.
*
According to manual, if using 16" rims, the recommended tire size is 205/55 (17" rims uses 215/45) & rim width is 6.5 (17" rim width is 7). However, due to very limited choice of 16" rims with 5 studs @ 114.3 PCD, i ended up buying the lightest rims available with ET (offset) 42mm & width 7. Now my rims & tires look slightly 'terkeluar' from the fenders..not so obvious though.

Kudos to Proton for finally releasing a car that sounds pretty awesome, at least on paper.

Rear fog lamps - my Cera has them tongue.gif but the downside is that during night time when you switch on the rear lamps, only the two outer lamps light up. The rear fog lamps are turned off by default, and they won't light up during braking. If you turn them on they appear much brighter than the regular lamps and the driver behind you might think you're braking all the time. I only use them during poor visibility such as heavy rain or fog.

ISOFIX - I think Cera has them too, can't really remember... but they are quite useless to me for now.

GPS - not sure how much they cost in M'sia, but over here a cheapo AUD150 unit normally works better than any factory-optioned GPS unit... which if  ticked, will cost you more than buying an aftermarket unit from the shops.

autowipers - is it that hard to manually turn it on ? same with autoheadlamps which I'm not a fan of.

in-car Wifi - not quite sure how well it works, we'll have to wait till the car is released to see. Most people carry smart phones with data plans anyway hence it's not essential.

engine - niceeeee numbers, on paper at least. Let's hope the transmission is on par as well, unlike the pre-face lifted 4 speed 308T.
*
Hehe..u use Aussie specs Forte maa..it's slightly different here & there if compared to our Forte specs here in Malaysia. Tak aci lor.. tongue.gif & same with u, i'm also not a fan of autoheadlight & autowipers which i can easily turn it on manually anyway...

seems a bit weird to have paddle shifters on a CVT since CVT has infinite gears...much like having this in the old honda city..would make more sense on a conventional gearbox like the forte
*
Well, the paddleshifters on a CVT works pretty impressive i must say (tested it on my friend's Lancer GT with 6 predefined ratios). It 'shift' as fast & as responsive as the conventional gearbox's paddleshifters if not better. But for Proton's 7-speed Pro-tronic CVT, yet to has its reviews.

By the way, bro gregy's POV is in fact very true if u ask me...

It's too subjective to judge its sound..some might say it sounds better, some say the other way round. I guess it boils down to our very own ears to judge it biggrin.gif For me, for USB, the stock sounds slightly better i think..but it's ignorable..i'm not an audiophile anyway tongue.gif But for radio, the new head unit sounds much better i tell u...

*
Sorry for misleading, i meant it for my HU..HU that comes with the Kia Koup centre fascia same as introduced in the group buy in MFC forum..not the one that recently offered by NazaKia (if there's any). I guess it's not the same coz the looks is different. Yupp..my HU comes with original Papago! X8.5 Navigation Software (GPS)

so what about radio reception??
*
Ohh..forgot to mention that i'm not using the stock antenna..i used VG shark fin antenna instead..imported from Canada. So the reception surely not the same anymore..hehe

Anyway, as what u have said, i'm talking about the sound quality of the radio, not the radio reception in particular. If let say, the reception is good enough, i can make a clear conclusion that the DVD/GPS HU produced better sound for the radio..that's for sure & i believe many (who installed the HU) will agree with me...

Hey all the forte owners here, Anybody know what is the compression ratio for the Forte 2.0L engine ? Any problem with Ron95 ?
*
Simple googling reveals this details : http://bellamykia.autotrader.ca/new/Kia/20...5d80bf14b6.htm#

Some 2.0 Forte owners experienced light engine knocking (use RON95), but for my car, there's none (also use RON95 by Petronas)..except just after a cold start..i could barely heard that for about a minute & then the knocking sounds disappeared. I guess it's not a problem whatsoever...

Really thanks a lot  smile.gif .Do I need to wait at there to see how they service my car? I asked and they said need around 2 hours to finish.
*
It's up to u my friend..if u have all the time in this world & have time luxuries to spend there at the SC..why not..hehe. Me..just sent & leave my car there at the SC & ask them to send me back to my office (Alor Setar SC offers this service thumbup.gif ). When they finished servicing my car, they will call & fetch me from my office to get my car. So work & service can be done in 1 shot tongue.gif

But if u afraid that the service technician cheats on u (i.e putting mineral oil instead of fully syn oil), i suggest u better wait there & watch out..hehe. For me, i just hope that they service my car with honesty & trust..if they dare cheat on me, i will claim it back "di akhirat"
