Nope but in theory it should work cos you can try to stop your car, get out of the car and you will hear the car beeping but engine is still running so in theory you should be able to drive the car without the key inside the car just as long as the engine is already running.
*
QUOTE(izputra @ May 6 2012, 11:28 AM)
Tested before by SA..he can drive anywhere he want without the smartkey in the car as long as he didnot turn the engine off...
*
In theory it should be that way. Too bad though. Would have preferred if the car can sense the remote out of the car and if out of range, the engine should shut down. Better security feature dont you think?

Oh tested by SA eh? I see smile.gif Thought of trying myself haha.

I think it would be a 'dangerous' feature if the car able to shut down if it unable to sense the smartkey. How about u are driving @ high speed & suddenly, your car shut down by itself coz it cannot sense the smartkey (due to smartkey battery is weak or totally out of power)..dangerous right?
*
Dangerous yes, but there are always solutions. Just that more features = increase of cost. So kia dont bother to add too much features for that.

QUOTE(kudi @ May 7 2012, 04:13 PM)
Dear All, I do find my 2 weeks old 2.0 Forte ride slightly bumpy. Anyone care to share anyway to improve the ride comfort? Or rather it is just how the car has been tuned sporty.

Also, is the central console cup holders below the gear knob gets warm all the time? I usually left my car key and iphone there. They do get warm all the time.

Cheers.
*
If bumpy try reducing the tire air pressure by abit. The suspension cannot be too soft else prone to body roll which is bad for cornering.

The center console to the middle of the back passenger floor to the right side of the boot floor. Those part will heat up alot especially during jams. This is due to the exhaust system location. Might be a good thing to add some heat insulator around those area beneath the chasis.

QUOTE(gigohlo @ May 7 2012, 09:38 PM)
Good question. Been wanting to ask this. I realize that it only gets hot if the car is idle for too long. If the car is moving, it wouldn't be too hot.  rclxub.gif

definitely going to buy forte this week. been using my mom's getz for 3 years now, but seriously, im not a person that knows how to jaga his car. everything just "belasah".. send car to service all up to me....

but im gonna try change all that with my new car. already going to pick the white one, and ppl ask me its hard to maintain that color.  do i need to go thru those paint protection process as soon as i got the car (just heard about pps n sierra glow) ?

for servicing, anyone know good KIA service center in JB ? .. btw what happened to myforteclub website ? i wanted to check the MFC starter kit.. whats that ?
*
White hard to mantain but i think forte looks best in white, trust me mine is white too tongue.gif silver easiest to maintain but looks dull doh.gif

paint protection is a must nowadays. pps or sierra glow is good or if you want to DIY try permanon.

MFC starter kit is just a t shirt, roadtax holder and club sticker i think. Join the facebook group, its more active there.

if anyone feeling lucky & want my plate number pm me lolx...

and yeah.. put my name on 1.6 SX owners on the first page pls hehehehhe smile.gif
*
Haha, well thats bad for your car as it will damage your fuel pump and the catalytic converter if you are unlucky. Dont do that again sweat.gif

Well come to the forte club biggrin.gif

QUOTE(kelvin_ncp @ May 9 2012, 11:52 PM)
me too. collect my new forte last week.

K&N filter can boot up the power, but it also let air and fuel go into engine faster, it mean will be worse fc??
*
As the sensor detects that there are more air going in the engine so the ECU will pump in more fuel into the engine. More power = more fuel consumption. There is no such magic as less fuel to get more power smile.gif

QUOTE(little_orc @ May 10 2012, 11:54 AM)
ya, noticed that driving 110km/h constantly with 4th gear the rpm is around 2.6/2.7K which is quite low.

the steep slope(up) i mentioned actually just the normal slope in PLUS highway(JB->KL->JB), it is not really very steep but when i press the gas pedal up to about half, the speed still dropping back to about 98/100km/h sweat.gif

I tested 2 scenarios:
- press the gas pedal up to about 80%, it will down one gear which will cause the rpm spike > 4k
- manually change to 3th gear, rpm seem lower a bit (about 4k)

Actually my problem is i'm not able to maintain 110km/h in highway doh.gif
press the gas pedal deeper, speed still dropping, more deeper, gear shift down and cause the speed up shakehead.gif

help ya...... cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif

my mileage only 19000km, do you think is because of car not run in yet doh.gif
*
Dude, you sure 4th gear at 110kmh is at 2.6/2.7k rpm?

QUOTE(bornwilder @ May 15 2012, 05:45 PM)
if that is the case my compressor or my a/c confirm got big problem already! i set my temp at 19 and it is rather cold for me ( just nice la) if i set anything above 20....omg ....my car got hi tech dual zone a/c already driver side like warm air coming out passenger side will be cold. it is really frustrating me. if any brothers here can give good advice on this matter would be a major help.
*
QUOTE(izputra @ May 15 2012, 06:01 PM)

It somehow happen to me also last time..but it's the other way round than yours. Driver's side aircond vents produce colder air if compared to the passenger's side. Last time bro taipan did posted on how to reset the aircond system if this sort of behavior happen, but i forgot already. It was posted long time ago
*
Same case for me. If auto set to low blower speed, then the driver side will be colder than the passenger side. Asked Kinrara SC they said its normal because of the location of the compressor. Somehow i doubt that hmm.gif

really funny these fella's. i think they are trying to take us for a ride. On my side my SC told me that when i complain this issue my driver side blower is less than the passenger side and also emitting warm air instead of cold air. they told me the reason the aircond is not as powerful on the driver side is due to the blower is located at the passenger's side. ( which i think its total bullshit, most cars i think the blowers are located at the passenger side and i dont seem to have this problem with my previous car which the blower is located on the bottom left). as for the cooling problem they have still yet to solve and i am heading over this saturday to solve this 1 and for all (hopefully!!)
*
Yes somehow i doubt their explanation, though kinrara SC seems to be quite reputable hmm.gif mine not as irritating as yours tho.

Please share your result here after you head to SC

QUOTE(cwching80 @ May 20 2012, 10:35 AM)
Hi all,

I am interested in the Kia Forte 2.0SX and have the following enquires

1) The ground clearance is only 150mm. Do anyone experience bumping issues or scratches to the car
when going over road humps or bumps? This is a concern as the existing car that I am using has higher
    ground clearance.

2) I read in the forum that the newer Forte now comes with HU with in built navigation system GPS. Does that
apply to 2.0SX also? I just have to wait for the newer batch so that it comes with the new HU?

3) I read in review that there is loud engine noise when going for RPM above 4500RPM. Do anyone experience it?

Thank you all for your help.
*
Clearence shouldnt be a problem, not sure about full load tho. Bodykit will have problems exiting steep carpark ramps, tend to scrape the bottom.

Yes new forte comes with touchscreen HU, if want the old HU i think there is a 1.5-2k discount?

Engine noise is abit loud pass that mark but i think most cars are like that, no?

i was wondering, i sign my loan agreement last thursday and the SA tell me that it takes at least 10 Days for the car to be deliver... it is a 1.6 EX version for my wife... last time i got my SX in 3 days time and how come the EX takes so long??? anyone here facing this problem or anyone here just purchased the Forte 1.6 EX recently??
*
I believe its due to the efficiency of your SA, keep calling and ask him to get the process done faster. That also depends if your SA have ready stock or not.

Getting mine from 070, friendly-chap, went to JPJ bought number, then tomolo buy number from KTM too. My car arrived today, not yet register to system yet, so most probably will be getting next Wed.  Great discount package from 070. Delivering and keeping whats being promised. Its a 1.6 SX T.Silver by da way.

Inspected the car, ok from exterior. Inside wise, started the engine, very quiet. But 1 thing I notice was, the Trip Meter tarak information though I turned on the right side light  (twist twist up and down) and also tekan the Trip button. On the light also no come out. What happen ah? Is it must put to D-mode only come out?

SA not in country.  Any advise? Need put in D only can ah?? Thx
*
Go in the car, close the door, start the car. No need to twist the light setting, you are able to see the information cycle by pressing the trip button.

One thing i notice is the idle engine noise is quite good, but once at 4k rpm and above it gets slightly louder than other cars i've driven. No big deal though flex.gif

Hey, thx for the reply, bro. I think I mentioned it wrongly. Its the meter illuminator (RPM, Speed etc) lights not popping out.  Suppose to be the red LED come out, I turned the headlights and the switch controller on the right, the LED didnt seem to come out at all.  Just nothing.  Sorry, not the trip meter info-display.  What happen ah?
*
Thats strange. Why didnt you ask another SA in the showroom at that time? By right even if you didnt turn on the headlight the speedometer, rpm meter and fuel gauge meter should light up

Mmmmmm, no SA around that time, only admin staff n she's not the technical person. So, what you saying is, by right when starting engine, the LED shud pop out? Ok, will reconfirm again soon. Not yet sign the document to take car yet, so, need to double check and make sure everything ok only sign.  Thx for the help.

I see. Yes all the meters including the information LCD screen will light up when you start the car. smile.gif

Got some rattling sound already on the dashboard and driver side door . Just drove for 460km only . You think the SC can fix it during my 1000km visit ?
*
Yes can be fixed anytime. You have 5 years unliminted warranty, and rattling sound is considered manufacturing defect. I still have some rattling issues that still havent been solved.

PU or ABS, the advantage of both have been discussed many times.

PU wont crack if hit something(good flex properties). ABS will crack. Advantage of ABS is that it is lighter.

Paying double for something that wont look any different. You decide.
