I am interested to buy this phone... smile.gif
By spec, it seems better than Xperia Sola (was attracted to Sola earlier...).
Never use Sumsung smartphone before. Build quality, after-sale support, etc... Any comments?
Will get ICS?

Can someone help to post the Antutu benchmark score screen here?
Thank you. notworthy.gif

Thanks for the screenshots.
I presume you use Class 10 memory card. May I know what is the brand and capacity?
I bought a kingmax 32gb class10, at best it scores 9.7MB/s write; but higher read @ 21.7MB/s.
Thanks.

Added on July 22, 2012, 12:14 pmHow do I eject the internal memory when it's connected to my com? There's no way to safely remove the phone..
*
It seems samsung is using dual mount for both internal and external storage. This is great as compare to my other android phones (HTC, SonyEricsson, CSL) which only mount to either the phone or PC one at a time.
For this phone, I just unplug after copying files completed.

guys is there any reason this phone cannot runs 1080p video files? kinda dissapointed
*
Just to share my experience and thought...

Why would you want to run 1080p (Full HD) video in this phone? blink.gif
The screen resolution is only 800 x 480, while full HD=1920 × 1080.
The screen will not show any better quality for any video with resolution higher than 800x480 (480p).
On the contrary the cpu will waste the process power on these extra data with no gain, and cause lagging.
It will scale the video down to 800x480 to fit the screen anyway.
And the 1080p video also taken up more storage as compare to 480p video. sweat.gif

The rule of thumb is to find the video with resolution fit the screen resolution.
With that, you get the best performance and best video quality the screen can reproduce, and save those precious storage space. i.e. optimised result. nod.gif

This is a great phone, overall smooth performance with such competitive price from Samsung. biggrin.gif

my reason why needed to run 1080p is quite simple
more than half of my video downloaded in 1080p format instead of 720p

rule of thumb as you said is resolution fitting the screen, but some people are not so technical about those

when you have many 1080p video that needed to be converted/redownloaded i dont think all those matter anymore, rather just copy, paste and play is faster smile.gif
i currently have a galaxy tab 7.7, it just copy and play every 1080p smile.gif, works well with external hdd with power source
*
Comparing s advance to tab 7.7, it has less powerful cpu (1Ghz dual core against 1.4 dual core) and lesser RAM (768mb against 1GB)...these 2 impact greatly on playing full hd video smoothly or not... smile.gif

Seeing your need and the result, s advance just seems not suitable as a full hd media player... sweat.gif

Just now I did a check on software update and it downloaded a 15mb file. When click on install, it says will reboot the phone, but it was not rebooted...the screen stay black but the Setting and Back buttons are light up. Waited for 10min still the same. Press power button also no reaction. What happen?? Did I just brick my phone? By OTA updates? OMG! Anyone can help?

EDIT: Managed to reboot the phone by long press power button (>5 sec)...then the green robot appear and software installation starts...phew sweat.gif
Took quite awhile for the entire updates...After that, it is still 2.3.6 and didnt notice any different.
Anyone know what updates is this? hmm.gif

haha. no link. just from own observation only.. 15mb update..what do u expect?
unless u upgrade to JB biggrin.gif
*
Haha...understand.
I was facing sms ringtone problem...sometime no sound, sometime ring for 0.5 second then no sound already.
Notification tone for call and whatsapp seems no problem (tested with the same ringtone).
Just that you mention about the sms and miss-call notification in the updates...
So want to know more about what/how has it fixed (also mean Samsung does knew about this problem).

I am using a cute little app called SMS PopUp.

Apart from popping up sms and whatsapp message directly to the screen, you can get the ringtone twice (if you don't de-activate the regular notification from the phone).

Ooo, will try out the apps and see... thanks. smile.gif
