Added on May 19, 2012, 5:21 amROOT METHOD FOR GALAXY S ADVANCE I9070 ON WINDOWS (DXLD1 ONLY)
Disclaimer:
1. Do this ONLY IF you know what you are doing.
2. I am NOT RESPONSIBLE if any of you brick or damage your phones during or after the process.
3. This is only a guide, if you need more info, please befriend uncle "Google".
4. This method will cost you the flash counter.
5. You should backup important data before flashing the kernel (although so far all data are intact after flashing).
For this method, you will need:
1. USB Driver for the phone (if you have installed Kies correctly and it can detect your phone, then I assume this is covered.)
2. Odin (preferably version 1.83, if you don't have it, can download it here).
3. Insecure, modified kernel by me (rooted.tar)
Method:
1. Remove your SIM card (and microSD card, if any, as an added safety measure).
2. Start Odin.
3. Make sure ONLY "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" is ticked.
4. Get your phone into Download Mode (Power + Home + Volume Down).
5. Connect your phone to the PC (if successful, the first box under ID:COM will turn yellow).
6. Click the PDA button, choose the rooted.tar, and click start.
7. The flash is successful if you see a green box with "PASS" message, and your phone will reboot. At this point, you can safely disconnect your phone, and insert back your SIM card and microSD card.
8. You should be rooted at this stage, you can verify by installing any root checker app available from Google Play Store.
There, you have successfully rooted your phone. But this kernel is compiled from source directly, with very minimal changes. If something is wrong with your phone after flashing this kernel, and you wanted to go back to stock kernel, you can follow the method above, just changed the PDA file with this stock kernel (orikernel.tar). It will not affect root access that you had after flashing the insecure, modified kernel.
Troubleshooting:
If you somehow botched the flash process, resulting in red box with "FAIL" message, do not worry or panic. You will notice that you cannot reboot the phone (it will give some error message, relating to firmware update). You can use Odin to flash the stock ROM for DXLD1 (which you can get from sammobile.com, have to register before you can download anything, and make sure you get the correct version), and if it is successful, you can have your phone back, as good as it ever was, even with all data intact.
So, enjoy!!
