The hypocrisy of it all. We haven't exactly been the darlings of the media of late have we? The fact that the biggest match in the Premiership calender came secondary to whether or not 2 players would shake hands tells you the media have got their priorities anything but right? When was the last time a handshake was given this much prominence? If you read the headlines, you'll see people telling us what we should do. "Liverpool must apologise". "Liverpool must get rid of Suarez". "Liverpool's owners must get involved". Well, Liverpool did apologise so what would you have us do next? Funny we get many so called experts telling us how we should deal with racism when they haven't yet managed to eliminate it from England. Instead they tell people from countiries like Uruguay how it should be dealt with, a country with much less racial issues. A country where black players have featured for decades. Well whatever sells papers. What I have an issue with is Fergie imparting his wisdom on us telling us what we should do. Well now Mr. Ferguson, before we heed your advice may I first highlight a few things to you?
Fans are by their nature, loyal and prejudiced. And handshakegate has shown us to be also divided by those who think Luis should've shook hands, and those who think he was right not to.
But one thing I think the whole football world, never mind like minded Reds, should agree on is that once again Mr. Ferguson has demonstrated his extraordinary ability for hypocrisy.
The man should be pilloried in the press, but of course he won't be. He should be pulled up to rights by the league and at the very least have the media world point out to all and sundry that he doesn't know his wine stained arse from his elbow.
Lets have a look at what he said and think about it for a moment or two:
Fergi said Suarez could've caused a riot... Hmm, Old Trafford holds about 70,000 people. When was the last time you could actually see a pre game handshake amongst the teams, never mind actually bother to want to watch this ritual? I reckon less than 10,000 people at best could've seen it, and out of them, what 1000 people will have looked at it and out of them, 100 thought "OOh that's so outrageous, I must immediately punch the nearest fan, who is er.. a Man Utd fan".
nope, it can't be that. Of course, the man arrested for selling outside the ground to anyone, a klu klux klan mask with inciting words on, that in the words of the police, could've incited a riot, won't be given that much press will it. Nor will Mr Alex Ferguson want that guy sacked and banned, I don't recall him saying that their own fans were bringing their club into disrepute and could've caused a riot, that would've been the truth and clearly too much for Ferguson.
His main vitriol of course was this line:
"Luis Suarez is a disgrace and should be sold, he has let down the name of Liverpool"
Let's have a look at this and ask where exactly was Luis 'a disgrace'?
a) Suarez didn't handshake Evra?
Well if Luis should be sacked for this, then I wonder where Rio Ferdinand will be headed. Now, Ferdi says his decision was based on the fact Suarez didn't shake Evra's hand. An even more petty and trite playground reason than Suarez refusing to shake the hand of the man who had got him banned for 8 games and labelled him a racist in all but name, rather more in depth reason than "My pal didn't so I won't". Hmmm, yet I doubt Mr Alex Ferguson will be selling Jar Jar...
Of course if its also about handshakes then Mr Alex Ferguson has to sack himself. I recall against a certain J.Mourhino, manager of Porto, Mr Alex Ferguson refused the post match handshake, a tradition long established before the FA's implementation. Again, I can't really see Mr. Ferguson providing a P45 for Mr. Ferguson.
SO! It must be something else.
b) His actions on pitch?
He kicked the ball against the hoardings. OK, clearly at Old Trafford that is tantamount to pillage and murder. And what else did Luis do during the match? er score a goal, and that was it. Of course kicking a ball against the hoardings is a much higher and more terrible crime than for example...
a whole team surrounding referees on a regular basis
breaking players legs intentionally,
assaulting fans,
shouting abuse at refs
fighting in the tunnel (*see below)
inciting away fans at the end of the game
and kicking players whilst their down...
SOO! It can't be that. It must be something else..
c) His actions off pitch?
I can't actually think what he might have done off the pitch, save causing a fracas at half time. Except it was Evra the Utd Captain who chased Luis at half time. Utd of course have a long and grand tradition of fighting in the tunnel *pizzagate leaps to mind.
Perhaps he was thinking about away from the game, after all Utd players are all models of high morals. Apart from:
The ones that like missing a drugs test?
The ones that are caught being a philanderer? Caught f***ing their brother's wife over a period of years, or f***ing prostitutes twice their age?
(the granny shagger then has the temerity to hold the club to ransom over wages)
The ones who like buying in girls for Christmas parties?
SOOO! It must be something else...
d)Showing disrespect to the team?
According to Ferguson, Suarez has shown disrespect to our team by his actions and therefore should be sacked perhaps..?
Clearly once again he'll be happy to also sack the player who destabilised his own national team, France, leading a player revolt and walkout at a World Cup. Oh hang on, no, he made Patrice Evra his captain. HIS CAPTAIN. ARE YOU f***ING LOOPY?
Of course he's not loopy, he did it with the man who walked out on Ireland in the middle of a major chamoionship: Keane. (I don't recall him accepting any other manager demanding Keane's sacking from the game never mind the club after intentionally ruining Haaland's career).
SOOOOOOOO! It must be something else.......
e)Perhaps its a simple and principled as not following PL and FA protocol?
Like ignoring media requests when it suits you for years and not being fined for it?
f)For not shaking hands again?
The FA took the easy way out and asked QPR and Chelsea not to shake hands, and this is whilst Terry is supposedly innocent?
his entire speech was to manipulate the media; it was hypocritical and shameful and Liverpool should in no certain terms tell him to f*** off.
Otherwise I expect to see Ferdinand up for sale, Evra up for sale, a new manager needed at Utd and the whole club brought to task. Ha then again pigs may appear overhead.
