Hi guys,

I'm contemplating on getting ER6N/F, versys or xj6. My ears would definitely go for XJ6 due to the sweet sound XJ6 produces. ER6 variants including versys sounds much like moped.

In the long run, how big of a difference will XJ6 and ER6n differs in maintenance?

Any input is deeply appreciated.

XJ6 inline 4 - 16valves - 4 pistons
ER6 inline 2 - 8 valves - 2 pistons

when the time comes, u need to re-check valve clearance, grind valve, re-shim, re-place piston rings etc...
cost of parts and labour will differ alot because of more parts on the XJ6..

like /k said, ada wang ada ahmoi..  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
thanks for your advise. But how much do you think it differs? Double the maintenance price of ER6 or just slight up by few hundreds?

At the moment I'm driving a Gen2. Traffic is getting bad and there are almost no more parking space around my office. If the maintenance cost is just about as much as a car, I wouldn't mind sangat la. I'm just looking for other ways to commute to office, but has to be enjoyable for weekend rides too.

Read in the earlier in the thread, XJ6 4 inline is overated? How so?

ps: ahmoi sudah ada. approval sudah dapat biggrin.gif thumbup.gif

At speed above 120km/h, you'll no longer hear your exhaust sound. All u hear is just wind noise passing your helmet.

If masturbating your ear is all your intention there is, go ahead buy an xj6. But for a few k more, you can buy a 2nd hand z750 that sounds alot nicer than xj6. Serious.
*
I doubt I can handle z750. I got my B full aeons ago, but havent rode since my Kriss 125 got stolen 8 years ago.

A lot of people have been telling me this, at 120kmh, you can't even hear the sound your bike is making. Last time I took the Kriss was only for city riding. Thanks for your help!

yeah, correct on the exhaust sound, furthermore stock Xj6 sound dun sound like those r6 or r1..
the sound is very soft, to get real eargasm, need to fork out another RM4300 for arrow fullsystem..

for town ride, i think inline 2 more suitable because of the more torque it provide..
fuel consumption, er6n also should be the winner because of less dapur..

top speed of both i think should be more or less the same only,
unless both bikes have similar cc, then the one with more cylinders should win on top speed or hp..

but er6n is 650cc, 50cc larger than xj6.. so it can compensate abit lah even not much i think..

i dont know the actual cost because i dont own these bikes,
if i were given the option, i will choose er6n 2012 anytime anyday...
alot of people use er6n nowadays, so if accident happen, spareparts should be easy to get, and ur bike will be lesser time at workshop..
*
thanks man, that's very helpful. Another 4-5k is pushing it. I might as well go for CBR600 or something.

not exactly town ride, since I take mostly federal, duke, smart.. all the highways around KL la. At most twice a week I get into KL's mess. And I'm not into top speed, I dont want my bike to be sent to my wife and body goes to morgue.

So among Kawa Trio, which do you think it would. I kinda like the F's looks, it's subtly telling people 'dont mess with me'.

But I do think it's fairly important to have a noisy bike, just enough to make you noticeable.

If sound is ur priority, go for XJ6....

About the exhaust part, even some ER6/Versys owner change exhaust...... but still not fappable...

But ER6 in gear acceleration is better than xj6.... that's the nature of twins.....

Maintenance wise, not that much.... diff is not that big.....

But XJ6 will do better on highways.... inline 4, less strain on the engine, and scores higher top speed....

Few mods such as PC5 & Full system exhaust, ok dy... superb...

But for me i don't favour XJ6 front design.... ER6N is such a looker (new one)..... But engine is not my cup of tea....
So diff ppl, diff taste..... Go for which u like....  laugh.gif
*
I'm with you on this. ER6 a great looker. The swingarm looks awesome. XJ6 front looks soft and swingarm looks standard LC 135. But engine wise, I would favor 4 inline anytime of the day. That's the biggest contemplation I have.

No matter what exhaust you change, 2 inline will still sound like moped. Unless V twin like Naza, which sounds pretty decent.

dun forget, the newly launch CF Moto 650NK, from chassis to engine is copy of previous er6n,
so many options of spareparts.. if u hesitate to take structural/engine part, at least other parts can 'kacuk/kahwin' with this bike,
for example, headlights, tail (two pieces seat instead of one on the er6)...
i find this bike is better looking than er6 except for the cheapo meter la..  brows.gif
*
I do find CF moto tempting, but what about after sales service? That's the scary part, you buy and no support from the disti.

What about Naza 650R based on Hyosung? The sound is pretty bad-ass and grumpy, I do like more than er6. The bike is too rarelah, non of my friends use it (even friend to a friend, that I know of).

I think I will proceed applying load for ER6n. Though the sound may be a bit screwed up, I think I can live with it until I can afford a bigger bike.

Thanks for you input guys.

Another question, can I transfer my car insurance NCB to the new bike?

hey how much ur loan? dp? monthly for how long?
*
I am going for personal loan, 35k. Haven't really work out the math yet, but the rate is reasonable, Bank Rakyat 4.75% per annum. 7 years.. around RM500 per month.

i saw welly advertising black er6-n 2012

i guess the yellow fever is off, and the blacks ones are coming

i wonder when they will come in with lime green, and finally white?
i asked the same question last time, insurance says no since it's totally different type of coverage

if not, i'd have saved 55% on my 1st party all-rider insurance
*
Along Jalan Ipoh I saw both colors. But I'll be taking the black kot, if white is coming, then maybe I'll wait for it.

Too bad, my NCD is 55% also for car.

Say loan 35k, for 5 years

Aeon = 10% per annum, monthly = RM744, total = RM 44640

Bank Rakyat = 4.75% per annum, monthly = RM 657, total = RM 39420

That's a big difference. Dont be a desperado

1. Price difference
2. I like naked bike, very manly.
3. Yes, F is much easier, but I dont plan on cruising 160kmh

fark aeon la  vmad.gif  vmad.gif
*
How much did you borrow? and what was the rate?

Bank rakyat will never (as far as I know) do motorcycle loan. Just do personal loan, go to the shop and give them in bank draft or cheque. Bike will get out in 2-3 days. A bit longer to wait and a lot of hassle, but worth it.

i give d/p for 1600 for the bike shop

borrow a 8k, rate 11% ++ total 15 k ... sweat.gif

it took about 5 days for the aeon credit officer to call me and verify and confirm

that day is friday. on saturday i go to the shop and check with them,. they say still no news from aeon, i tell them already got call from aeon, the shop say dont know bout this.

then i hesitate dy, wanna cancel coz i want the bike by tuesday before cny. they say cant make it since monday closing, jpj also havent approve plate number. if i want that quick i have to take leave on tuesday and go jpj myself. i tell them why cant they do it? i dont want take too many AL. they say only 1 week can make it if they do

so like that i tell the shop to cancel. then suddenly the person say aeon already in process approve. cannot cancel. i say i havent got the bike yet and insist to cancel but they keep saying kenot and loan already in approving ...  doh.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

lastly i no choice but to continue and take leave. fark that shop la. con job.. i regret taking that loan...
what loan can take from bank rakyat? wanna buy duke 690 45k or maybe 2nd hand zx6r 55 - 60k
*
Wow super con job. Actually, they should present a loan agreement (different from loan application) and you have to sign it. If you don't sign it, they cant give you the bike. Which is ok, you go buy sometime and make other arrangement with bank rakyat or other banks. Once you get the loan money from bank, go to the shop and tell them you want to pay by cash. If they insist on getting a loan for you. Tell them you will report this to whoever shit la. They will eventually take cash from you.

Anyway, damage has been done. You can't undo the loan anyway, else they will slap you with an expensive penalty or ask you to pay the loan with interest in full. Which is silly la. Sorry for you dude, that lesson was a very expensive lesson in life.

duke 690 like riding horse only. imho la. if you dont mind getting another loan, or selling your ninja, just go to the bank and tell them you want a personal loan. they are very friendly. at least better than maybank, sheesshhh i hate that bank!

duke 690 r, the older model not nice?

how much can take personal loan from bank rakyat? the longest payment structure
*
Oh, I thought you got second hand ninja or something, my bad.

They will need 2 key criteria, 1. your pay must be 3k. 2. work for the company for 3 years. If not, they will need a guarantor.

If these two are met, you can borrow 200k no problem. Payment period can stretch to 20 years (I think)

i think car ncb and bike ncb is separate. But even if allowed, not worth bcoz car max ncb is 55% while bike's ncb is only 25%.

Assuming you already have max ncb on your car, transfering it will only make you lose as you have to pay more for your car insurance.

Meanwhile, i already have max ncb on my kapchai, So come renewal time for my versys, I'll transfer from my kapchai instead.
*
What is the max NCB for motorcycle? Is it just like car, 55%?

I thought that's transfer from car with 55% NCB to bike, you only get 25% NCB. So no matter how many years, still goin to be 25%? That's quite a lot

how is this refinance works?
kasi rendah kan bayar bulan2 lepas tu mane dpt pulak duit beli motor?
*
Refinance, you will need to reevaluate your house price, if ada appraisal (selalu nya ada) bank will pay you byk difference, e.g. your house price goes up to 300k while you only bought it at 200k. You get 100k cash to yourself. then go buy a bike. But this will also means your monthly commitment will increase.

Yes bang. Kalau 2 name, 2-2 la kene pergi. Tapi kalau setakat setahun dua baru beli rumah, tak payah la. difference kecik, leceh je nanti.
