Hi sifus, i'm a newbie in this and not sure if this consider as overclocking or not.

I got BSOD during map switching when playing Battlefield 3.

On Bios settings i changed ram frequency from 1332mhz to 1648mhz (btw bios only shows 1648mhz and not 1600mhz exactly)
if i set back to 1332Mhz i wont get any BSOD.
problem is my ram is suppose to support up to 1600mhz....
Running on Windows 7 64bit

Here's my spec
Intel i7 2600K 4.4ghz(tuned with Asus optimal mode.)
Asus P8P67
Cosair vengeance 2x4GB DDR3 1600 C9
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5850
WD 7200 1TB x2
Cosair GS600
Please advise dear sifus. thanks!

What's the code of BSOD?
bump up vdimm a lil bit or set BCLK to 100MHz

this kit never ever boot with 2133 before.max is 900 only.. now can boot already. but ofkos not stable. enough for 1M only.

Gskill Eco 1600 7-8-7 1.35
currently at 1.68v

ECO is not for SB one. biggrin.gif
I always bought RAM based on higher bin/speed rather than tighter timings.

Btw i saw what u have there keke

Currently there are a few ICs that are great at OC.

1) Samsung HCH9 & HYKO
2) Hynix BFR & CFR
3) PSC
4) Elpida BBSE

The rests are bad or just okay.

owh.. ok. So, let me get it straight. So, to overclock, I just need to go into bios and then change "AI Overclock Tuner" From "Auto" to "XMB". Then, change the DRAM Frequency to the desired frequency. Anything else that's needed to be done?
*

Best if you can show us your PC specs in more details because different platform has different voltage terms, OC capability due Integrated Mem Controller aka IMC strength, as well as limitation of CPU/chipset. A Sandy Bridge processor is limited up to 2300MHz only, Ivy Bridge can hit 3000MHz+ highly depends on how strong is your chip's IMC and RAM ICs.

Basically, mem overclocking either frequency increment or timing tightening requires a bump on vdimm (RAM voltage), VTT aka VCCIO, IMC aka VCCSA. When you are increasing the frequency say 1333 to 1600, you might have to relax the timing ie 9-11-9 to 11-11-11 etc to compensate for lower vdimm and related volts. That is for primary timings, playing with secondary and tertiary timings requires a more advanced OC skill and patience.

All psc cip can overclock ke

I'm not sure with value modules but all the performance kits can OC very well on Ivy Bridge.
My experience with PSC kits.

i have few questions,

-what is PSC kit?
-let say the spec of the kit says DDr3-2200, will it auto clock to 2200 out of the box or i need to set it in the bios to make it run 2200?
*
PSC stands for Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation, a RAM IC maker.
The Ivy will boot at either 1333 or 1600 at default, according to the highest SPD profile of the module and you would need to set it manually to 2200 in BIOS or rely on XMP profile.

any more samsung green ram avail? where to get it ya?
*
Looks like Samsung Green is discontinued everywhere already. Newegg, eBay, amazon, BHPhoto are no longer selling this kit. sad.gif

Latest OC for 4.5Ghz @ 1.28Vcore

Seems stable for 5 hours plus on prime.

Running on xspc raystorm kit. Would the temp abnormal?
*
Wrong thread dude. But it looks normal for undelidded Ivy, as long as it is under TJmax of 105C than you should be fine. smile.gif

KVR 1333 C9 2 X 2GB 1.5v, it's a highly binned PSC X kit so please don't go buy bluntly this KVR you won't find this so easily.

well last time all tridents were elpidas bsc etc.

so now they are using samsungs??
*
Trident are mix of Elpida BBSE and PSC.
Elpida on TridentX is kinda impossible since they filed a bankruptcy in early 2012. TridentX is consisted of Samsung and Hynix. The slowest TridentX 2133C9 is also a Samsung. 2400 looks quite impossible for Elpida @ 1.65v. The last Elpida BBSE was RipjawsX series specifically the 2133C8 kit in 2011.

ah...glad that i bought spare sticks of samsung green before... all are hyk0 1205 biggrin.gif

Congrats. Most HYK0 1205 can do 2700+ @ 1.7v+. But what about yours? hmm.gif
