Hello... have some question here. Im still new in the rooting thingy and i know this may look like a lame question for the experts in here but i have no one else to ask lor... been reading and watching videos on steps to root sgnote... alot!

Currently my note has not yet rooted and in my case, ive updated my note to latest software 2.3.6 @ LA1 and found out its non-rooted. So now im dowloading the previous version 2.3.5 @ KK1 to downgrade my note. Am i in the right direction?

fyi, i just want to root my phone. As for the Clockworm thingy... hvnt had any clue what its for lol(i blame my lack of reading more:p) but i guess it had something to do with some advance recovery. I just hope that after i root my note, the titanium backup will be just enough... or am i wrong?

back to the main question, im following a guide from this website http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360

and downloaded zergrushexploit

edit: so... anything i need to do next? or did i miss something?

thx in advance smile.gif

Hello... great new for me i just succeeded rooting my note LOL

followed benny's blog(which is really helpful)

Now im currently installing mobile odin to flash 2.3.6. found out need to pay for the mobile odin in market(solved it by downloaded apk)

so to update my note to the latest firmware 2.3.6 i just need to download the kernel LA1 right? and using the mobile odin to upload the file? kinda lost with benny's last guide there... launching mobile odin... care to elaborate more anyone?

optional: when i rooted my note, its now running 2.3.5 KJ3 firmware kernel KK1. is it possible if i just updated it through usual samsung software update? or the root will be wipe out?

LA6 is a Russian firmware while LA4 is Germany. You can still use both in you GNote. Our local latest firmware is LA1 or full DXLA1.
You can download all the firmware from
www.sammobile.com

O.o didnt know that! well i certainly do that now!. thx!

Guys, I am having problem with flashing to LA6 (russia) with mobile odin, I got CSC unknow due to unable to access \system\csc\XME\system

I even created the path using root explorer (Applied multi-csc successful). Extracted cache.img from the md5 to flash the cache again. Wipe the cache. Wipe data. Still i get CSC unknown.

So I end up reflash everthing again to Malaysia stock ROM using PC Odin.

What could possibly go wrong there?  icon_question.gif
*
got the same problem when i flash to LA6 russia via mobil odin
suddenly when i type on my keyboard all came out as 'null'

what i did is i use CWM and Flash Stock ROM using the same LA6 russia and the problem solved.
While flashing via CWM i noticed still CSC unable to access \system\csc\XME\system

on my understanding is CSC mean its a country specific settings network details etc
so i bet if u flash to LA1 (malaysia) this problem wont happen.

edit:just my opinion... still new too:)

Heard that the CSC problem was mobile odin bug, right? So now after you flash the LA6 rom using CWM do you still have the CSC problem? Btw when you flash the LA6rom, do you have to download and use the CF-Root kernel for LA6?
*
yeah i used CF-Root Kernel LA6. just make sure u have the stock rom .tar file saved in sd/firmware/

after i flash the LA6 with CWM so far phone works well. All i know is when u flash a different country's carrier, CSC wont be available to access because CSC contains the software packages to a specific region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.

May i know what version of Mobile Odin that you used to flash the LA6 rom when you encounter the CSC problem? Currently I'm running on LA4 (Germany) rooted and everything seem smooth and fine. Thinking of flashing the LA6 rom using Mobile Odin but after reading most ppl getting the CSC error pulled me back.  ohmy.gif
*
Im using Mobile Odin Pro v2.10.

Well most in the forums favor M.O to flash their phone. Thats why i used it in the 1st place. But the only problem i encounter was the 'null' error with typing. All i did is using CWM to flash stock rom using the same LA6 keeping the CF-Roof Kernel and it all went well.

As for the CSC problem, most of this problem appear when u flashed a stock rom. There is a solution for that but its very tricky. found this while surfing

In case you flashed a non multi-csc ROM and now are missing your CSC you can do this:
1. Get hold of an old ROM update package. Open it up and browse to /system/csc
2. Copy your regional CSC folder(for malaysia's its either CCM, FME, FMG, MXS, XME) from that archive to your phone SD card.
3. Dive into a root explorer on the phone (make sure 'system' is mounted as writable) and copy the folder you have in Step-2 to your phone's /system/csc
4. Dial *#272*{your imei number goes here}# and install your CSC.

old ROM update package meaning its our country's carrier exm: LA1 (Malaysia)

In my opinion, when u get the 'cant access system/cs' error, it mean the csc version is not compatible with the country's carrier. Just make sure u made a backup and read more in xda website

edit: btw mine is XME

No point flashing the Rocket ICS beta
The S Pen cannot function as it used to be ; only just as a normal stylus only. Cannot press down to take screenshot and no sketching capabilities
It is strange why the developers has taken off this important function
And S memo is exclude - only Samsung apps app is included All the other Samsung apps excluded
And ROOT is lost too
*
im currently using the ICS REPACK and now downloading the ICS v4.0.3 BETA

went through the xda thread and learn something bout the new ICS BETA.

As benny's said. S Pen and S Memo not working very well. S Pen cannot funtion as screenshots, S Memo is within the Samsung apps which the developer removed some of the samsung apps in the rom(i guess...need to read more @.@)

as for the ROOT, yeah will lost root access but found a post saying can get back rooting access by installing Superuser
and busybox after that reboot device.

So far many review in the thread saying the although ICS BETA has too many bugs, it is much faster than ICS REPACK. Cant be sure bout this cause i havent flash it my self.

All i can say is ICS REPACK solved my note's hanging issue and performance is really amazing. No heat problem even when i put my note beside my bed lol. Just the battery consumption is really-really high... eat up my battery juice alot and fast @.@

edit: Gonna wait for more review on the ICS BETA before flashing it.

Wipe only apps in the 2gb hidden partition. The viewable 11gb partition remains intact

Added on February 21, 2012, 5:41 pmSyakstorm : unlike you I find the operating temperatures is lower by 2-3 degree c on the chinese leak ics rom. And overall battery usage is better
The rocket icss without spen function is useless to me

I read in the xda thread installing the baseband zcspl1 will eliminate sod. So about 2 hours ago I reinstalled back the chinese ics rom and change the baseband
*
very true bout the sod.

as for the battery usage, does this look normal?
