i'm doing some reading regarding backup and it really made my head spin. say if i were to use titanium backup, do i still need to do nandroid and efs backup? very confuse...

and by the way can we just use PC Odin to flash any gnote stock roms onto non-root device?

will it increase the binary counter if only used to flash stock roms?

how can i check the binary counter?

sorry for so many questions... am very noob with android phone.
*
Here's a simple way to remember
- Nandroid - full backup your firmware and phone system (via CWM)
- efs backup - backup your imei/efs (via app)
- Titanium backup - for apps and data (via app).
Yes..you can use Odin to flash stock firmware without rooting. No increase in binary counter if you flash official stock firmware.

Oic... That's mean Nandroid backup is not a 3rd party app like TI, right?
I found 2 apps for EFS backup (kTool & EFS Pro) which one is much recommended?
Btw how to do a full wipe and factory restore?

Thanks for all ya kind reply  thumbup.gif
*
I used KTool to do efs backup. You can do full wipe by using CWM or via phone setting > privacy > factory reset.

hi all , im new note user here , i found that it's quite battery consuming... current firmware is 2.3.6 (no root)  any ideas ?
just moderate usage only , msg-ing the most , not really into web browsing( 20-30min ) , neither watch video or listen music, auto-brightness, off gps wifi, on data 3g ....... it lasted a day
is it normal ?
*
As long as it can lasted a day, for me it's consider enough and normal. You can always charge your phone when you went to sleep. ;-)

Is there any method fully restore so I can return the Note to stock and I can start the new version of rooting. I just fully understand about rooting my Note.
*
You can fully restore when you flash back original full stock firmware into your phone. You can get the firmware either at xda or samfirmware.

Few things were changed after restoring my Note.

Added on February 13, 2012, 3:55 amOk.. I think I got it. Does anyone here have N7000DXLA1 baseband and kernel latest version? Can you guys give these 2 files to me? This thing should fix my problem, hence, I can get back the Samsung Official binary. Thanks in advanced.
*
You're still using custom kernel (netchip). You had to flash FULL original stock firmware in order to change it OR flash stock kernel only. I advise you use Mobile Odin for flashing kernel.

Hey guys I am still blur about all this rom, root,CWM thing. Can u briefly guide me through step by step?I read through those links in the first page adi and I still cant really get it ><

Oh,I got a good guide from Dr.Ketan.But i still hav questions.Wat's the difference between stock Rom and custom Rom?Which 1 is better?
*
If you cannot understand the meaning or the procedure then it's better for you to stay unrooted and use stock roms. The phone is already good enough to be used without any tinkering or rooting. You can always use 3rd party launcher to customise your phone with tons of theme that you can ply with.

After reading Dr.Ketan's guide,I roughly knows wat needs to be done..but since u mentioned that the phone is good enough even without rooting, then most probably I'll just leave it unrooted ^^
*
Good for you.!! :-)
You can customise your phone with various theme even without rooting. Explore your phone first and enjoy the experience. Once you're fimiliar with all the settings, all the apps and its function then it's much easier for you to understand about tweaking and rooting.
Good luck.

hi, any clue which Samsung outlet has higher chance with stock available? I went to pyramid 's last week but no stock :-( is it okay if buy from some other mobile shop with sme warranty?
*
Any Abu, Muthu and Chia shop will do as long they sell SME set. All SME set is the same whether you buy from Samsung or from ordinary small kiosk/shop. You can even get a cheaper price that way :-)

Ahh...I always though it's good to root the phone to gain more access and have more free applications XD
*
Gain access to the phone system..yes.
But have more free applications..NO. There's BIG different between rooting and jailbreaking. Rooting won't get you any free apps as per jailbreaking on the fruit phone. :-P

I prefer using Odin's method, its so much easier to use.  sweat.gif
Rather than DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit, a bit tricky  rclxub.gif
*
Using Odin can increase you binary counter. USB jig can be used to counter this, if i'm not mistaken. But i prefer using Mobile Odin for flashing. Use Odin for rooting only and after that all can be done via Mobile Odin without any increase on binary counter :-)

Ohhhhh!!I always though that root = jailbreak.Learnt something new today! laugh.gif So jailbreaking is illegal but it gives u more free application?
*
Jailbreaking used for iPhone only. Mostly to gain free apps illegally. Rooting for Android won't give you the same thing as jailbreaking. Better steer away from downloading illegal apps as that sort of things can spoilt your phone with hangs, freeze and force close. It may even harm your motherboard.!!

... yesterday i charge my note to 100%, then clear ram ( it show 18-20apps clear ), lock screen and left it there with alarm for 8 hours. It drained 20% of my battery =.= ( before that i installed 30 game apps )
then i go install cpu spy, test whether it went to deep sleep or not, too sad it was 200mhz all the time, it a 10min test ....
Question - should i uninstall the games ? or any ideas? Thanks in advance
*
First of all..there's no need for you to clear up your RAM as your phone has plenty of RAM. Most apps use RAM (cache) so it would open faster when you need it. If you clear the RAM, this same apps will start using/filling it up again and again. Hence you're using more battery juice and disturb your phone deep sleep.
Just leave the RAM alone as your phone can manage its RAM on its ownself. Clearing RAM and killing apps was for old Android (below Froyo) that comes with smaller RAM capacity.

If you have rooted ur Note, no need to install mobile odin pro. Just go to CWM recovery using CWM app and flash to your new desired ROM.
*
You can't flash full firmware with CWM. You need either Odin or Mobile Odin.

LA6 is a Russian firmware while LA4 is Germany. You can still use both in you GNote. Our local latest firmware is LA1 or full DXLA1.
You can download all the firmware from
www.sammobile.com
