i learn for 2 year plus.. my sister recently took up this hobby again.. hae to be a member to go for lessons.. i will be studying at seremban soon.. trying to see any suitable affordable lessons for me to learn there.. if anyone knows turf club there tell me..
ipoh turf club they will assign u differnt horses each time u go for a lesson.. so that u get use n experience how to handle diff horses personality.. some are very stuborn, some bitey.. some even like to kick n throw off riders on their back.. had one time i was just taking horse for a stroll then another horse whose rider fell off gallop pass my horse.. then dunnno why my horse starter cantering/galloping as well.. cant control him.. i oni can see the scenery of trees n road swiftly pass my view..lol.. lucky i manage to make him stop after few hundred meters.. didnt fall down.. after riding lessons we have to bathe n cool down the horses ourselves.. use the cold water and bathe them.. brush their hair n take them for grass..=) few days ago went back to the stables to visit them but many of the horses i rode already sent to other states or some even passed away.. most of them are retired/rejected race horses |

QUOTE(Lambrettaa @ Feb 1 2012, 02:34 AM) where?? yea they are mostly retired race horses for ppl to learn riding.. the young ones are too energetic and strong.. hard to handle for beginers.. old one is calm but they are sometimes stuborn.. they have a vet to check up for them when ever needed...at the other corner of the stable they have those carriage horses with big legs and long fur on the hoofs..like the one u see in beauty n the beast.. got Shetland pony as well.. |

horse riding can be very rewarding. u can just ride as pleasure or u can go into competition like equestrian; dressage, jumping and eventing or even cross country. another popular sports here in malaysia is endurance race, almost every month there's competition. u can also learn polo sports.
common questions people ask me about horse, horse riding, equestrian and etc... in short i just list it down for basic general ref. / interest any sports activity cost money.. manage your financial well..find the right options based on your affordability, u can still ride. it's much cheaper then diving or golfing ; based on my experience and comparison with friends. there are many places within klang valley and putrajaya. to name few: -selangor turf club -3q @ sungai buloh -elmina @ saujana utama, sungai buloh -kiara equestrian @ most convenient -putrajaya equestrian at precient 5 ; love the field - royal selangor polo club @ ampang ; - there's one at bukit tinggi - there's one at UPM, serdang. - Denai Alam @ shah alam ; somehow i dislike this place, lousy unqualified trainer, over use horse and sometime find they abuse the horses. - there's one at Kajang. price for learning: - range from 450 for 10 lesson Beginner @ kiara; after that each package depends on group lesson / semi private or private. price range if not mistaken from 400+ - 900 + . u don't need to be a member for lesson - putrajaya, package of 8 lesson 45mins each if not mistaken about 380 for beginner. after that 450 for 8 lesson of 45 mins each time - the rest can't recall price owning a horse - u can own a horse from rm500-rm 5 to 6 digits. depending on breed, age, transportation from overseas n etc - for a start, an ex polo horse (polo pony) range from 10k-25k. they get deleted from polo sometime due to their instinct that they don't go forward toward the "ball", sometime due to joints problem or just not a polo sport heart but they are great riding horse, not too tall n easier. - for ex race; thoroughbred rm500-25k or more. depending on color, conditions and age. hardly u can find a nice sound old retired ex race only if u r lucky. exrace has tendency to have joint problems due to their racing career. so to purchase one, u need to do homework and if possible get an experience rider/horseman/vet/instructor to assist your purchase. trot the horse and check if he/she has sign of lameness. check the joints, guts n etc. but for pleasure riding, endurance and as good pet... exrace can be very rewarding. - A none "ex" horses .. u can get around rm25k-40k for locally bred Thoroughbred / Arabs. to import u can spend like 60k-200k or more. owning a horse: - staple care, grooming, basic food, staple rental approx. rm1500-1800 monthly - vet bills.. depending on vet transportation. each year 2 time of vaccination and 1 vaccination for influenza -deworming u can do yourself or vet can do for u. -once u own a horse, u need to purchase riding equipments for horse; saddle is around rm2.5k-5k for syntactic (recommended), leather is around rm6k-20k (buy if u really have time to care), then another rm2k for the bridle, breast plate, saddle cloth, stirrup, boots for horse and etc. just budget rm6-8k it is more then sufficient for the whole set. - u need to have time to longe / lunge your horse. need to retrain and train, need to work your horse to keep his/her fitness. - monthly, total budget rm2k for everything (staple and vet), u r fine. owning a horse by leasing - u can get an owner, u can lease their horse by sharing the staple fee. for example, u ride 3 times a week n the other party rides another 3 a week, u can pay half. or u can share among 3 people or 4 people. - many owners in kiara does that because sometime they just don't have time to ride their horses. u can spend like 500 or 700 monthly and enjoy riding instead of rental 65-70 ringgit each time u want to practice.. and no time limit but u need to give the horse to rest, don't abuse the horse. as rider - owner or student; -ridding attire, budget around 1k for basic attire; helmet, "pants", boots /short boots, chaps, gloves. - u can upgrade later piece by piece. where to buy? kiara , selangor turf, ampang (shop name: equine kl)...the rest just google.
