QUOTE(jchue73 @ Feb 19 2012, 12:34 AM) I don't understand what's all the fuss about the RMA... Pay the USD 7.50. That's less than RM 25 ! They'll call you up and come to pick the drive up from you. They will send email updates when the drive is expected to be returned to you. When they return the drive, it will be nicely packed and sealed in a anti-static bag and will be delivered right to your doorstep. Don't need to go anywhere to the post office and pack the drive yourself. Don't even need to go to LYP and brave the traffic to send have Viewnet to send it for you. QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Feb 20 2012, 12:41 AM) i tried already. i jz follow the instruction on website, dun even need to follow the packing instruction, jz make sure the HDD is nicely packed and its anti static enough. pay the fee, they will send someone to collect the HDD from you. after that all u need to do is wait for ur replacement HDD, simple as that They will send the replacement unit to our doorstep? How are we going to pay them yar? through bank trf or? What if send in 2 unit rma units? They charge us twice of USD 7.50? |

QUOTE(everling @ Jun 14 2012, 08:51 PM) It isn't the most reliable storage mechanism. While tape or optical media is stored offline, you wouldn't know if they get damaged by a bad storage environment or self-degradation (optical media) or not. I have a number of friends whose anime or video collection burned to DVDs has self-destructed since they last burned it a decade ago. ur fen using what brand of dvd that failed ar?The most reliable storage mechanism is a live and highly redundant RAID array, where you can detect failures and replace unusable HDDs as needed. Furthermore, not only you are assured of data availability, you also have instantaneous random access to any of your data. It is something that both tape and optical media cannot provide, as you will need to locate the appropriate tape or optical media and load them before you can access them. Again, once burned to DVDs, it is extremely rare to see anyone going through the effort of locating and loading them into DVD-ROMs and watch the contents at a whim. QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Jun 14 2012, 11:38 PM) lacie or buffalo pntu3 also okie. |
