Anyone monitoring HDD prices lately?

I wonder if prices are going up due to ringgit weakening, despite WD having a big factory here in Kelana Jaya.....

Had 2 of my WD red 4TBs fail on me within a week. Only about 2 years old but i lost the receipt  cry.gif

any shops in lowyat selling 4TB HGST drives? They are supposed to be way more reliable.

Losing receipts is ok, u can check serial number on WD website to see warranty is still valid.

The HDDs just died like that? No bad sectors forming beforehand?

Should this be something I should worry about? Weeks back appear at my external 1 TB drive. But the count did not increase. smile.gif

If the data is important, make sure regular backups
If reallocated sector count remains steady, no need to worry too much. But i would start monitoring it frequently. Sometimes these bad sectors spread like viruses.

Guys ...is it just me or the prices of hard disc just keep increasing?
I bought a WD RED 4tb about 2 years back for rm590. Today, for the same model and capacity cost rm690. What the heck?!
I thought price should drop due to Moore's law and demandsupply factor.
Not increase.

RM weakened against USD
