Hello guys, I'm looking for a hard disk that could eventually install several games on it.

Currently having Plextor M5S 128GB for OS and some softwares that often be use.
WD RED 3TB for storing media files such as pictures, videos, movies and etc.

Looking for a drive to install games on it and hopefully wont be affect much performance.

I do own a WD Black 1TB before and found out the noise eventually quite annoying as compare to my WD RED( Quite quiet in my opinion.) Any alternative or WD Black is the best choice for the price to performance ratio..

Do advise

any hdd with 7200 rpm can do it. i installed games, application on my 500gb seagate momentus previously from my lappy & another wd green 160gb for download/junks. my ssd same like urs plainly for windows OS only.

my old wd green hdd during pentium got some noise even my case is so heavy but it will gone after awhile. max temp 40°c yet still able to use w/o any issue.

seagate or western digital good to go. toshiba 3TB the cheapest also can. since plextor also using toshiba nand. sometimes noise cause by ur casing or the fitting screw.

That's a 2.5" HDD. Unable to detect where? What's the situation?

Is it still in a laptop? Then laptop cannot boot at all? Take HDD out and put into external case and test (you might have done this already). Feel if there's any mechanical movement to see if it spins or not. If no power/vibration/mechanical movement then it's dead, dead, dead...

If it's inside an external case already and cannot be detected... was it working with the external case before this? Have you tried different cables and USB ports?
One thing you can try is reinstall USB driver.

Go to Device Manager, and under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, look for USB Mass Storage Device. Uninstall it, then unplug/replug the external case.

If after that, the USB driver shows ok and still doesn't work, then go to Disk Management. Check if it's detected there or not. Maybe it has become unformatted and you need to initialize and format it again. Bad news for whatever data is in there though.
Let us know here how it goes, and good luck~  cool2.gif

My condolences bro... looks like it's dead already... OS hang probably means it's really struggling to read the sectors...
