I dont think can pause halfway..What do u mean by scan disk that you're using?
Bad sector cannot be fixed, even logical ones, it can only be 'quarantined' and hidden so that the OS/programs dont run into them and use them. The bad sector count could also increase or worsen rendering the disk unusable.
If there is data on the disk that you cannot lose I suggest backing it up first before fixing bad sector as data can be corrupted or lost.
Scan time does usually take a long time the larger the disk. if the disk is still usable you can use cmd: chkdsk C: /f /r /x, it will restart then scan and locate/fix bad sectors. I've also used DRevitalize v1.20 to fix a disk that cant boot into Windows. You can also try Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools. Just backup your data before trying all this.
