base on my experiences, there is no clear rules how to take care ur hardisks ... most of the time ur hardisk lifespan totally base on ur luck.
The usage hour usually give minimal impact on the lifespan of hardisks .. The only problem that u need to be aware is a sudden blackout that might cause bad sector.
