You may RMA. If you do, please be sure to backup your data. There is a very good chance that WD will simply give you a new empty HDD without copying your data over.

You also have the option of to not RMA at this time. Frankly speaking, while it looks troubling, the data shown in the screenshot are actually not yet fatal. Your HDD may still live on for a few more years without any problems.

I am more worried about if the numbers are growing worse. If it is, you might have a bad cap ayam PSU that is sending damaging electrical spikes that is slowly destroying your HDD, and any replacement HDDs will also get damaged by the same PSU. What is the model of your PSU and how old is it? Is your hardware demanding more wattage than your PSU can provide? If you do not know, please use a PSU calculator that is available online.

d hdd is in a timelinex 3820tg laptop dats powered by delta power brick (more o less 19V x 4.73 = 90W) dat came wt d laptop as default. d laptop (minus hdd) aged bout 1yr 6mths & not too sure whether power brick are degrading/aging hmm.gif . quite hard to calculate d power requirement when outervision psu calculator does not support laptop but kinda sure it has enuf juice to power up d laptop. how i wish i hv d kill-a-watt so i cud monitor d actual power consumption, handy item dat kill-a-watt blush.gif . but i guess now i will just proceed wt RMA. tengs for ur input anyw notworthy.gif .

what is the largest capacity for notebook harddisks at standard size / height?
*
d largest i found so far is 1tb (WD10JPVT). not too sure bout other brand.

speaking of 2.5" hdd, WD now got 2tb SATA3 2.5" hdd but thickness is 15mm.
i just noticed wd no longer named their hdd "CAVIAR/SCORPIO".

Which is a safer way of storing photos? In a HDD in a computer or an External HDD? Thanks.
*
this is what i did.
- i ran raid10 in my rig (04 WDBlue 1tb)
- monthly backup my rig wt my seagate st3000dm001 as external drive (including my photo & photochoping work)
- another monthly backup using 2.5" wdblue 1tb as external drive oso but this 1 mainly for my photo & photochoping work only
so basically i hv 03 sets of my photo & photochoping work. but after all, hopefully all 03 sets of it doesnt go disastered at d same time. hehehe biggrin.gif blush.gif

wish i hv extra money to replace my 04 wdblue 1tb raid10 wt 04 seagate st3000dm001 instead. blush.gif now my raid10 almost choking oredi. sweat.gif

My less than 1 month old WD Green 2TB internal HDD spoilt. Anyone knows if I can exchange at the store that I bought in Low Yat since it is only less than a month or I have to go thru the WD RMA service?
*
normally shop will cover 1 to 1 replacement if item spoilt within 1 week of purchase. shop oso usually will handle FOC RMA for 1st yr of warranty. iinm Achieva (wisma academy) oso can process RMA for WD hdd.
